Looking for feedback on whether you all think I have a shot at the listing below. Just a short listen for style/feel is all I need, I think. Thanks in advance.----------------------------------------------------------------------JAZZ/SPACE LOUNGE INSTRUMENTALS a la Pink Martini, the theme songs from “Bewitched” and “I Dream of Genie”, Combustible Edison, etc. are wanted by an established Independent Music Publisher who has secured numerous Film/TV placements for many TAXI members - the President of the company will be screening these submissions himself. These tracks could have a jazz, latin or space lounge feel, but the instrumentation should sound authentic. No overtly “synthesized” instruments for this one. Great performances and production values that really hit close to the referenced artists will capture the most attention here. Recordings MUST be Broadcast Quality, though great home recordings should be just fine. For this one, he’ll split the license fee with you 50/50 and he doesn’t take any publishing. Please submit one to three tracks online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Noon PST on Monday, December 1, 2008. Seems like the right sort of jazz for the listing, though a bit lacking in the more quirky elements that denote "space age bachelor pad" lounge-iness.

Good Morning Are you talking about The Blue Leopard or all of them?Blue Leopard sounds great for the listing, but how "spacey" are they wanting it....the listing also said "not overly synthesized" too....a little confusing Blue could be taken to a "spacier" level, but I love it the way it is.Great tunes!M

Sounds great.....My comment on 'The Blue Leopard' would be...I'm not sure the melody should be so solo-y (sounds like busy intro material)...maybe more of a definite melody would work....and when the horn section comes in it feels heavy next to flute as a lead instrument, and the riff the horns introduce doesn't seem to have the right personality for the feel...longer notes would sound good against flute....and not so many horns......I'm not an expert on these alas.....so...only my .02 cents..vtbp....hope I'm not too tough on you....

Thanks mojo, Misty, vicky...all helpful comments...and nothing's too tough.I was talking about all 3 songs, but didn't expect you to listen to all of them necessarily.Vince

Vince....I listened to 'Blaster, Man on Wheels' with this great flute playing I'd nail down simpler melodic ideas although it works better here than on the 'Blue Leopard'...the feel of this is great....It could possibly go thru on a Octane listing, too...maybe....I really like your rhythm tracks....and the piano works great on this, too....I'd submit to acid jazz listings, too....Over all....how to phatten that flute...great playing, and as a lead instrument...the flute has its' problems.....may be louder in the mix...or try a stereo expander on the track?...the listing you posted needs a definite melody, and a laid back vibe.....vtbp

Hi Vince,I did a bit of research on this listing and your tunes, while nice cool jazz pieces with authentic instrumentation, don't seem to fit the listing. Blue Leopard is probably closest as far as the listing goes but it's still a long ways from Bewitched!! Not a bad thing but maybe not a good fit?Just my opinion, I'm still getting my "reading between the lines on the listings" chops together so take it with a grain of salt.Nice stuff, who's playing on there? I love that Herbie Mann style flute playing.Mazz
