This is great--a really great sound. But for this listing, I'd strip it back even more. Kill the electric guitars and the drums, give it a big, wooden tambourine to keep time, instead, when you want to kick it up. You might also want to dial back more of the sheen on the vocals to give it a little more "age." I think it's a winner, though; nice work!

It started out stripped , with more focus on the vox
Then I heard it ala love the one your with " with groove
I'll take a look at electric Gtr parts
With fresh ears I'll go and notch down the highs
On the vocals .

Sounds like it has some Grateful Dead influence. Me likes it!

My only comment is that it sounds a little too clean production wise. They did not seem to specify this but I wonder how it would go with a little dirt thrown in there. (some slight tape fuzz or something similar) just to round it out and give it a little more hippie flare?

Yeah, this is it! I think this mix really kicks it back to the right era. I actually think the mix has just the right amount of dirt on it--the early-mid-70s recordings were all super-clean, really only distinguishable from modern recordings by a different EQ curve and a whole lot less volume. Excellent work.

Sounds very CSN&Y. The chords progression and arrangement are spot on. There is only one problem I can hear. I feel the mix is a bit too clean for this kind of retro song. Maybe the listing is not looking for a 60-70's sound...But I bet they are. If you want the listener to believe this is a old tune from that era you need to get the recording to sound like it was recorded in that era. Difficult, I know, but may be the difference between a forward or return.

I'm submitting now
After the high Eq on my 1st rough mix
I Abd the csny track with mine over and over..
I definitely took that step to where my ears said thats a similar Eq.
Also I kept the harmonies straight up the middle and no stereo panning with mastering
which gives it the 70s folk vibe.
Mostly the listing is asking for songs that "could've been" on radio from that era
and should "emote the same feeling " in the same ballpark ".

Great songwriting, as always. wow. I guess the one problem with getting all our ears in on the game is that it can be a little like 'too many chefs' can't it... cue my critique - Everything is fabulous except I hear Crosby stills Nash and Young. Suite Judy Blue Eyes. So I hear a sort of hippie sit in , bongo, tamborine accompaniment with maybe some light drums. Just perceptible.( I'm hearing it through one speaker only, mind you (at work - long story) so take this with a grain of salt. )

You're great. I'm a fan. My two bits? Go for a hippie sit in. Sparse percussion. kinda echoing Alpaca's first critique, but I'd have light simple drum part gluing it together.
