I'd like to vary the verb with automation, but I'm not sure how much CPU I can get away with. I had a few dropouts so far.Wig

Wig, this is just so beautiful and soulful....I can't wait to hear it as well. I'm not very technical when it comes to talking about a piece....I have my songs finished off by other people when I do demoes, but I think the flute does need to be turned down (as some of the other instruments) but if you get that mix better, I think you could get a foward on this. I really loved your track...I love anything with a Celtic feel.

Very cool Wig!!! I would put a little more bite on the drums.... EQ or Compression so they cut through a little better....Love to hear it finished...Peace, Geo

Thanks, Bill,I think I need a bit of layering as Chit's mentioned. Thanks, Chits,I tend to rush my mixes a bit. I'll try to cross fade some of the overlapping sounds to thin it out without cutting the harmonies. Thanks, Amp,I'll try to get the drums a little crisper and maybe add a little verb. I took out a ride cymbal that was a vampire. I may be able to add a track of only that and use it more sparingly. Thanks for your suggestions. I will repost as Autumn Breezed Remixed in Peer to Peer.Wig

Wig,I really like all the sounds and textures. I want to hear them all but they may need to be notch eq'ed with each other in order to bring them into each it's own space. Mixing I find is so hard! It just takes me forever. I think if the keys were thinned a bit maybe drop 800 hz just a tad that would help them. Oh it's such a neat piece. At this point I don't think you have room for a ride. I wish I could tell you how to eq this to perfection but I'm no xspurt. The guitars sound really nice but maybe a little out front - maybe shelve off about 300hz if you haven't already. Do you mind if I ask how you mic'ed the guitars? They sound really good on the high end.Good luck and keep trying - it's a really neat song. Title is very appropriate also!!Kitz

I always recored acoustic or voice or flute in stereo with those two mics.Wig

Dang this is really fine, Wig! The flute is great, and ya, I agree it's a bit "in your face" at times. I'm sure you'll sort it out and stage it right. On a few of the notes, I found the volume good, but it had a quick attack...if the start of just a few notes "swelled in" a bit, it might give it more of a flow in places (just to vary the urgency? I dunno...it's what spoke to me at any rate).Nov 8, 2008, 4:30am, wignelson wrote:I'd like to vary the verb with automation, but I'm not sure how much CPU I can get away with. I had a few dropouts so far.Wig Could you make a copy of your project, and delete everything else but the flute? Then you could automate it the way you like when it's the only track, and print a full size wave of just that. When you bring this (modified) wave back into your original project, you could erase all that on-the-fly processing for the one instrument, and free up some horsepower in your main session, no?Am I out to lunch here gang with this idea? Please tell me...it seems like it should work.I guess it would take a bit longer, and make changing anything on that track a real pain...but this song is worth it, I think. I wouldn't settle for anything less than "exactly what you want" for this tune, as it has a great start.Put me on the "it's done" call list, will ya Wig?Nicely done!
