Is This on Target?

Do you all think that this song:
http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=trueIs on target for this listing:CURRENT-SOUNDING/"EDGY" CORPORATE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Music Licensing Company run by a veteran in this industry. While Corporate Instrumentals are typically designed to be positive and light, with a tone that inspires productivity, this company is looking for an edgier/more aggressive tone. This doesn't mean that they want the opposite end of the spectrum, just a slight edge to the typical Corporate Instrumental. In other words, you might consider adding an electric guitar or a drum loop in the instrumentation - to add some intensity and inspire a healthy sense of competition. You can stretch in terms of stylistic approach, just keep the overall tone in mind. Prominent melodies not required and all tempos & types of instrumentation are just fine. The company is designed to help producers, music supervisors, etc. find material for their film/TV/commercial/video game project, as well as licensing content to large corporations for in-house presentations and ad campaigns. Thanks in advance for listening!! Any comments about production, musicianship etc.. are welcome.Chris

Mmm, I'm not hearing an edgy, intense sound that would inspire competition. Production sounds good though... '-) wta

wta,Thanks for listening. I'm not completely sure what "inspiring competition" sounds like to be honest. I was thinking that the loops and electric guitar made it a little edgier than the typical corporate middle of the road stuff that I've heard. I guess we'll see. Thanks for the production comments.Chris

I listened earlier - I am listening now. The minor chords make it a bit edgy for corporate but I have no idea what this listing is looking for. The piece is interesting in its totality but placement may be unique and this listing might be what fits it. Just don't know. The production seems solid in my view.Kitz

Tough question.... not my genre.... interesting piece.... it might be too busy.....this is a tough listing IMO.... I guess if I was going to tackle it I would try to think what the hell it might be used for.... maybe a presentation... I might work in a take on "We are the Champions" on guitar at the end.... you know something that builds to a big rock-anthem chorus type thing that so geek could give a rah rah speech over...It is a very well produced piece I just don't think it's on target...Peace, Geo

Geo,It's funny that you mention the Queen song. I was trying to figure out what "inspiring competition" means exactly(from a musical point of view) and that song came to mind. I did not think I could work it into this composition. I may re-think that and give it a go. This is a difficult listing for sure. I guess we'll just see what happens with it. Kitz,I agree, I have no idea how this will be used. It would help if we knew the end context. It really does not help that this is a "yes/no" listing. If it does not get forwarded I'll never know how to actually write for a listing like this. I suppose that's a topic for another thread. Thanks for listening everybody!Chris

Buck, I think this is great...I just thinks it needs a little better mixing...some of the instruments jump out in places and are a little busy as Geo said...with a better blending, I think you'd have something special. It's unsual and edgy to me.

Chits,Thanks for listening and thanks for your ideas. I think I will work on the mix. I'm thinking about cutting some reverb on the snare and easing up on the compression of the whole song a bit. I feel a little bit of that busyness when the strings and guitars are all in at the same time. I may lighten up the effect on the electric guitar while I'm at it.Thanks again everybody!Chris
