Hi Erik,
Solid mix. Don't have issues with it at all.
The track is ready for TV use as a cue. Nice edit points in it too, the editors will love you :)

I agree with Pedro, however on my speakers the snare sounds a bit weak. I'd like it to pop a little more.

Nice edit points.

Yeah, sounds good, good stuff. Sounds like the kick is panned left quite a bit. Noticed it prominently in the cans.
Cheers! -Rob

Now't wrong with that.

Only thing id suggest is panning the two guitars wider apart.

I appreciate the replies folks, any tricks to make the snare pop out? (its a drum loop so i cant isolate it)

dont know how to fix the kick though if it doesnt sound centered, could it be the reverb or compression doing that??

i thought about panning the guitars left and right, but not sure if the main distorted guitar would lose the lead role if so, ill experiment and try it out...thanks

is the loudness up to par with standard releases nowadays? i had the fgx gain knob maxed, and it was still only hitting -9db RMS (i read it needs to be around -5 or less)...

Hi :D

I like this track. Very cool blues/rock/funk sound.

I'm fairly new to mixing so I'm not sure if any of this will be useful.

I might try adding an additional track into the mix with that same drum loop so it is doubled.

Or, if you could render that drum loop to a wave file and then get it into a wave editor like Audacity
then you could highlight the wave where the snare hits and use "effect/amplify" on that portion of the wave.
Then bring it back into an audio track clip and propagate it as many times as you need.

Hope that gives you some ideas. :D

thanks MC, the drum loop is not MIDI but a WAV Stereo file....but you gave me an idea to duplicate the track and use filters and EQ to make the snare pop out and blend it back in the mix......ill give it a try!

It's cool. I'm curious if u have any revisions to this mix? My only critique would be the drum loop. It can def use more punch n grit for this type of track. Good job tho!

A great way to make a snare pop is to add distortion on a bus and blend.
Soundtoy's decapitator and devilok work well or an amp sim will work.
Adding distortion to all the drums except the cymbals and hats will make the drums pop.
You can always take a single guitar track pan it hard left and send the effects channel hard right to spread out the guitar sound.
Then you can still leave the lead guitar more centred.
Clogging up the centre will get in the way of the snare.
These are just suggestions. The mix sounds good.

Rich.
