Is this on target?

This listing is as close as I could come to find someone asking for a pleasant sounding instrumental.A music partner of mine composed a piano piece that I accompanied and embellished and for the purpose of shopping it, he has offered me a byline. (Taxi won't let you represent other artists)We co-write together all the time and I tweak his lyrics, so we gray the lines of ownership on some compositions. No big deal. But, anyway, here is a nice song that's pleasing to listen to and might make the cut for some TV ad or movie or something. Is this the right listing? I haven't a clue at this point. Thanks in advance for your advice, Wighttp://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?i ... &q=hiWORLD INSTRUMENTALS IN ALL STYLES are needed by a Production Music Library. This company caters to clients in Advertising, Corporate Film and TV. Excellent performances with an authentic approach and tone are what's needed here. NO VOCALS for this one, please! Traditional World styles will be considered as well as a more Pop/Contemporary approach. These tracks are needed for Ad campaigns primarily, so the tone should be one that is upbeat and "feels good". A compelling and attractive overall vibe is necessary, so no sad/morose/melancholy compositions/arrangements. Fun, light and exciting would be a better approach for this request. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received by October 13, 2008. Really nice piece Wig..... love the flute playing....Might be a little melancholy for the listing.... but then again I've never been the best at that (listings that is)... Good luck, Geo

I guess it depends on what your definition of "World Music" is.To me it means some sort of ethnic instruments that call up an image of somewhere other than the U.S. I think this is closer to "New Age' but its hard to say what a screener would do.

IMO, it's not really a fit for this listing... not really world music, not really "light" either.Good piece though!

Well, I have to assume that you guys know more about placing songs in listings than I do. I guess I'll table this one until I see a listing for a melancholy instrumental piece. Thanks, I think you might have saved me $5.00Wig

Lovely piece, it does have a slightly Celtic flavour, but I wouldn't call it "World". I would call it straight-up "romantic" or "happy". If it had a little more "lilt" to it I might say give it a go because it does have some of what the listing is calling for. Nice job

This is a beautiful piece. It IS world in my opinion, but is also too introspective for the listing. That is only my opinion, of course.I picture a Scottish glade on an autumn afternoon, or perhaps an English estate in the last parts of summer. Same general feel, I guess.Though the instrumentation is perhaps universal, it certainly has a middle ages Europe feel, at least to me.I don't think it's right for the listing you posted, but it IS absolutely beautiful, and I am interested to see where it is eventually placed.Best wishes!

The listing does say pop/contemporary would be OK too. Maybe it could be perceived as melancholy, but I'd go for it. Sounds perfect for an insurance commercial.Cameron
