Hello dear Bob and Penny,

"Gabrielle" is a lovely name, the name of an Angel you know ... :)

I feel very moved by your Rendition of the Song. Your Voice is so warm, with a tiny Mediterranean or Latin accent, am I right ? Or even Gypsy ? Or Tzigane ...
The Music is sober, just right, and very genuine. A Grand Piano and a few Violins, and a Cello.

Well, this is a very valid Composition and Performance, in the context of a Musical.
I mean by Musical, the Musicals performed on Stage of course, in America or in Canada, or in the UK, but also the superb Productions by Walt Disney or other Grand Companies, thinking such as "the Beauty and the Beast" or "les Miserables" or "Notre Dame de Paris"

"Gabrielle" is worth GOLD, and can wonderfully moved the hearts of an Audience during a Concert, all over the World.

It is a Troubadour Song !! People here at the Forum know that I have a great fondness for Troubadours.
We have now 7 Troubadours in the lovely Club of the Troubadours, founded by me here at the TAXI Forum ;) :P

- Bob from the 90 dB BAND
- Mitch David
- John Lewitt
- Rob Carroll
- Brian McNulty
- Steve J Curtis
- Graham McRea (Little Red Church)

Well done indeed ! :)

Bob,

The strings sound a little bit to synthetic., so I would get rid of them. Why? The song as it's written, with just the vocal and piano are all you need to sell it!

Hi Bob,
Nice song. Here's some thoughts:
- Dynamics: It feels a little one dimensional right now. The piano you are using doesn't have much dynamics. Maybe that could be offset with some other instruments layering in and out of sections. Also a more realistic sounding piano would be appreciated.
- Accordion: I'm a fan of accordion so I'd definitely keep it in :) But maybe used in more specific sections to keep the arrangement more interesting.
- 1:50 a wrong chord is played on the piano followed be several sour notes on the accordion.
- Film & TV: This song can't be pitched for Film and TV because of the names and places in the lyrics.

Just some thoughts off the top of my head. If you have specific questions it would be very helpful for us to help out.
All the best!
