Hey, guys.OK, here's the deal. I'm heading into the studio for three days, starting on March 31st. I'd like to think I have TOO much new material to cover in just 3 days, so I'm trying to confirm in my own head which of these are the strongest...the ones I should focus on.That said, I should let you know a couple of things about what you're about to hear...1) the weird humming noise in the background is just my wall-furnace keeping me warm. Try to overlook it. 2) All you're about to hear is me strumming the guitar and humming the lead melody of the tune (I've had a chest cold for over a week now, and trying to do more just wasn't happening). As I warned you, these are raw in the extreme. And I should clarify that ALL of these new pieces are instrumentals. I have NO lyrics to take into the studio with me THIS time. Not having the luxury of being able to write and record for specific listings, at home, at will (not YET, anyway), I can't afford to second-guess myself. I can only write- and work on- whatever comes out of me, regardless of what the current listings are looking for, ya know what I mean? So, with this particular tune, I believe the chord structure as well as the melody are both strong enough to spend some time and money on. And while your comments are ABSOLUTELY appreciated, I guess I'm mostly just looking for your vote(s) as to which version is more marketable. (I have my own favorite, but I've been wrong before...)So first, we have something that's fairly close to how it was originally written, and I think I'd love to produce this in a latin (almost tropical) style. And with the way latin music (and latin media in general) is exploding, this may be more place-able. (FWIW, I also have an Irish version and a bluegrass version and a more ethnic, R&B type version of this same tune --and for that matter, that goes pretty much for ALL of these new tunes-- but these two are still my favorites of this one.)Not sure why, but I call this tune "Still the One" (both are only 2:10 in length...)
http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... ream=1Next, we have the same tune, different rhythm/arrangement. I call this one the "Jersey Stroll" version... Personally, I think this one is more fun, but marketability is a whole other animal.
http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... am=1Thanks in advance, y'all, for taking the time...TedPS. the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tunes are below now.

I vote for the 1st one. For me, it just had more of an instant appeal.

It almost seems rude of me to expect EVERYBODY to write out their reasons for the vote they share with me. That just seems like a way to get a better, quicker overview of (hopefully MORE) opinions...Again, thanks for listening, David. Much appreciated.Ted

Hey Ted,I agree with David, the first version has a nicer flow to it IMHO. Really like the chords and melody. You sure you don't wanna put lyrics to this. Seems to scream out to be a song......I dunno, of course you have the complete picture in your head.Very nice.I put the background noise down to the famous Taos hum. Derek

Hey Ted,I'm a newbie....so take this for what it's worth. The melody sounds very familiar, like something that has already been out in the last few years, maybe the last couple. While on the one hand that's good, it's almost too close. Unfortunately I can't think of the name of the song right now. (I hate that, because that will be in my head the rest of the day.) Maybe someone else can chime in.....Steve V

Thank you.so, did you prefer one over the other?Ted

Actually, I'd LOVE to have lyrics to this. But, as orignally written, it was the final piece of a three-song medley that was left as instrumental because of it's emotional impact at the end of the medley. But if you can come up with some killer lyrics, I'd say let's run with it. Tedps. again, thanks for taking the time.
