Very cool soulful track with lots of interesting development. Congrats also on the vocal delivery!

I really think you've captured the vibe for what you were shooting for.

The reference tracks come from back in the analogue days so the highs are rolled off esp the hi hat and cymbals.

Aretha's track and Etta's may have had more high end content than the others but the Sam Cooke, Al Green tracks are much tamer there.

I thought the bass sounded more forward on your track than the refs as well.

I see what you mean. I must admit I didn't read the listing properly and missed the slick and modern line. It may beg some clarification from admin.

I'm gonna have to assume you're right... everything else points to vintage sound... shoot! Oh well, I will use it elsewhere.

Hi,

a solid piece of work that will find a home. Marcus, your vox drive it, I'm a fan. Early on, got a Teddy Pendergrass and Al Green vibe, then it found its own home. Old Motown soul was driven by bass and harmonies. I thought it worked in that regard. When your dealing with alas of Etta, Aretha, Sam, Al and Marvin that's a high bar to get to. I'm not sure that its a perfect fit based on the alas, but I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Great job gents!

Thanks Steve, I agree, Mos Def. Marcus killed this joint! !! And really.... NOOONE is ever getting to the level of the alas , this listing is a who's who of soul music, and contains 5 of my(and most soul musicians) top 10 favorites.
