Game Show Tension - Feedback?

Hey, Taxi Friends!

Wrote this for the "Game Show Tension" cue -- any thoughts? And - how do y'all add extra stinger options at the end? Just leave them off, or like this?

Decision Time (Game Show)
https://soundcloud.com/memesounds/taxi- ... 09/s-lB1og

GAME SHOW TENSION CUES are needed by a prominent Music Library that needs to seriously beef up this genre in their catalog. In other words, they need a lot of great music! They’re on the prowl for Cues that are in the general wheelhouse of the references below:

“Deal Or No Deal”:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-zluACA39A

“Family Feud” (14:19-14:32):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT_DEZz99VQ

“Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iqwh6bxJPe0

Please send suspenseful, tension-inducing Cues, which are perfect for those decisive moments in many of the game shows we’ve all seen thousands of times. Your Cue can loop in segments, but should then smoothly ramp up the tension in places to increase the tension. Subtly is key though – this is not high-octane action tension music. They’re looking for something that’s more like that “anticipating-what’s-next” type of tension Cue. If the contestants are sweating, your music should serve to make the viewers at home sweat along with them! Gentle pulses, muted, clock-like ticks, and droning synth pads are all possibilities for your “tension palette.

Your submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced shows’ music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed. This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, and an 80/20 split in the Writer’s favor for any applicable download fees by clients from their Library! Because this is an Exclusive deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, October 14, 2016. TAXI #Y161014GT

Nice track. My advice is to chop off those extra stings, end the piece at 1:48 and if/when you need the stingers, bounce them down separately. Also, and this is just my opinion, I think the upwards run with the marimba-thing at the end sounds a bit comical and might not work for this listing.

Thanks so much! I'll work on it a bit more and submit tonight.

It sounds like futuristic game music to me (even more so like futuristic gaming music).
I like the arp and the sound effects, perhaps a few more added layers or a B part being similar enough could work too.

sorry for not making the comment in time, and I am very tired today.
I had to stay up all night to make yesterday's deadline for this listing myself.
(it's public on my TAXI profile now, although I might update it more soon)

Best wishes for both of us!
/ Fredrik

I like your game show tension piece!

Very well put together, I got really lost in it. If anything I realized as it was ending that I was feeling a sense of "completion" more than a sense of heightened anxiety, but I think it would work extremely well for scenes where dialog continues throughout.

Also enjoyed your bio. I look forward to a time when a collab might be "in the cards". :D

Thanks a lot for checking my music & profile, Nathan!

I visited your links in the signature, and noticed you do some common electronic styles really well, like House & EDM or whatever I should call it.
Whenever I've tried electronic stuff so far, it has mostly been within cinematic contexts.

Whenever a collab opportunity pops up, and we'd both have the time, I'd be interested!
You can reach me through my pages who are on my own signature, or PM me, so let's stay in touch. :)

Thanks again for the interest!

Absolutely! I'm just wrapping up a piece for Thursday night's deadline, and then will be looking at the listings for my next challenge. If you see something before the rally let me know, otherwise maybe we can find something to try together later in November.

And yes I call it house music, usually I'm drawn to deep house. But I'm branching out!

This listing said "Your submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take."

My cue was returned with this feedback: "Hi Nathan, the listing asks that all cues be a at least 2:00 minutes long. This is only 1:49 so I am going to have to return it."
