HI - I've been working on this for a couple of days and could use some fresh ears & a different perspective. I took a quick listen before I left the studio and I loved it. I didn't listen close enough to give a complete critique... but it's definitely worth tweaking out in my book. Of course I'm a sucker for odd, eerie stuff anyway Your voice is GREAT on this. Some balance issues between the main and background vocals. Also I would lose the drum count in, and just let the music start. I'll try to be more helpful later.Aub

A quick listen this morning, this is terrific, your voice is amazing and I like the pace of the song (doesn't hurt that this is one of my favorite songs either!).Separation is not always apparent to me (I'm deaf in one ear) but it sounds like the main vocal gets lost sometimes. I'll listen later with headphones.

Excellent! I think this unique approach to the song will have a lot of film/TV applications down the road. I'm pretty sure the song is Public Domain, not sure...Enya meets Eric Burdon and The Animals... As been said, you work out any issues on the levels between BG and FG vocals and any technical recording/mix stuff-- you know the type of things I can't offer much on - EQ, Verb, Pan, CIA, FBI, etc... Great stuff! It will be in my head all day! Casey

"Bird,Very cool treatment of a song everyone knows!!!My only observation is that compared to the unique vocal treatment, the drums seem very ordinary. I could hear something more exotic, possibly percussion to give the track the momentum it currently has.( not necessarily drums, maybe bell tree, temple blocks, triangle etc. I know there is some of this in the percussion bank in East West orchestras) .The drums just seem to distract from the vocal not enhance.ChuckBTW Much like what you have done with others, I'd be interested in trying to do what I've suggested. Vary Good Hummingbird, but I felt that you should bring out your voice a little more, you have a beautiful voice and it seem to be hiding in the background. Love the arrangement, it is vary good.Keep up the good work.Tim

I'm so glad you like it.Once again, I have to thank everyone for all their advice about choosing a mic and helping me get my head around reverb, EQ & compression, because without your patience & assistance, it would not sound this good. I remixed this slightly this morning based on your comments. I brought the lead up in those spots where it was covered a little. I also brought up the vocal percussion tracks & backed off a notch on the regular drums. I edited the drum track at the beginning. "Outside the box" cover versions are preferred -- think an Electronica version of a folk-ish Bob Dylan song as an example, or Dynamite Hack's Alt.-Pop cover version of "Boyz In The Hood" by Eazy-E. Any covers are acceptable -- not just hit/very popular songs. Album "deep cuts" are OK. =-) If you haven't copywritten your cover song's arrangement yet, at the very least make sure you do have it registered with your PRO (ASCAP, BMI, PRS, etc.). You must own the master rights to your cover, of course. The owner of the company splits the license fee with you 40/60 [that 60% is for you] and doesn't take any publishing on placements. This company's owner will screen your submissions. Broadcast quality needed [excellent home recordings are OK]. Hummin'bird

Hey HB, loved the treatment of this song, your voice is sublime. I found the backing vocal (I think you're doing a "ba, ba, ba line or something) causes a "confused" feeling against the lead vocal taking away from it. Maybe pull it back in the mix abit? great job... Geo
