Hi all, I'm working on this 60's style tune. The only part i'm not happy with is the sax lead. It's darned hard to make a comvincing sax sound when it's up-front, well for me it is anyway Anyways, see what you think. I'll be slaving over it some more tomorrow. http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

I agree that the sax could use work, but I think you're headed in the right direction. The only thing is that it sounds more '50s than '60s to me...

Hi David,Really nice--- I think it is very 50's though -( Brought me back to the bandstands- days-Blue Moon, Ebb Tide, Misty, I can't get Started With You , etc.) -- my 2 cents- I'd go to the bridge a little earlier in the song, the 1-6-2-5 over and over IMO left me wanting for a change up. My wife came into the room as I was listening, and thought it was very nice. ( a rare compliment I assure you). Good Luck!!Bob

Luckily, there's a listing for 50's instrumentals too Thanks for the coments folks, I've done a bit more to it and re-uploaded.Give my regards to the wife, Bob, clearly a woman of fine taste

Is the piano a Rhodes sound? From what I've read online, they were first available in 1965. That may be problematic for this otherwise perfect for the 1950s listing tune.

It was a prototype, ahead of it's time Man, you can't get away with anything around here Well spotted Paul, I never even gave it a thought. I'll have a look later and see exactly what it was I used.

With a lot of listings, I don't think it would matter. With these, I think it might, since they've mentioned the need for authenic sound.

Here's a version with the Rhodes replaced by a Wurlitzer, which was around in the 50's. I'm in two minds as to the sound being any better or worse, but at least it's more accurate historically. Thanks Paul.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

Hi David,If you are talking about the listings I think you are talking about, they are looking for tunes that sound like they are ..."plucked right from the '50's ('60s)..."Here's what I think : With the Rhodes / Wurlitzer intro, it sounds like the beginning to a '70's Chicago tune. The chord progression is definitely '50's , early '60s maybe. So as is, it seems to be in a decade "purgatory"IMO, the closest decade is the '50s. So, I would scratch the Wurlitzer and add a regular piano sound in the background hammering out eighth notes on the upper register with a lot of reverb. The sax lead definitely sounds like the '50s, but I'm not too sure about the double lead ?? How about adding an electric guitar lead??Best of luck,Larry
