I'm kinda testing out a Shure SM7b mic to see if it works for my voice, as well as looking at putting together some stuff for the upcoming "a capella Christmas Carol" listing... so I fiddled with this tonight. I think it needs a few more takes before it's really solid... but if you wanna listen... here it is...Huron Carol -- http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=truePS - if you want to compare to my voice on a Neumann TLM 103.. http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true (you may wish to stand )I think they're pretty close.

Wow, that was beautiful. Are these recordings "flat" (no eq)? Sound was quite bright on both If you have a bright voice, you might want to try a darker sounding mic. - JH

Really beautiful stuff (even the anthem!!!).I like the Neumann sound, a little warmer, but they both sound great... Geo

Hi Vikki The Huron Carol was a lovely song, very beautiful words and melody. Very pretty! Too much high end with a bitey quality in the mix, though. I like vocals with teeth but only in the tone, not in the mike. I like the Neumann better with your voice but it also has some high-end eq problems. I've noticed that sopranos really have to watch that, especially lyrical sopranos or coloraturas, due to the sweet, clear nature of their voices. Once you find the right mix, this won't be a problem anymore. I'd remove all but the barest hint of reverb to cut this back some but since we both like that, it's best to find a standard eq setting you can use in your room that will allow you to add effects as you like without the mic sounding close to feedback, as evidenced by the Huron Carol. It's not gonna feedback but it almost sounds like it could. Could be where you're standing, if you're right in the middle of the cone and right on the mic but I'm betting you it's in your pre-amp somewhere. Beautiful phrasing and lovely tone, as always. Love it! Jes got this small eq problem. I don't even know if you'd be dinged for it but your voice deserves that big cathedral and warm tone treatment.
