Authenticity in your sounds, performances, and instruments are very important for this pitch. Your instrumentation should be what’s typically heard in traditional Middle Eastern Music – (oud, nay, qanun and violins, doumbek, darbuka, finger cymbals etc., etc., etc.) Anything that sounds stiff, MIDI-driven, or synthetic won’t work for this pitch.
All submissions should be at least 2 minutes long. Non-faded endings are encouraged for this pitch. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for feel, texture, tone, and vibe. Genre-Appropriate Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). In other words, it should sound good and authentic, but maybe not like a pristine digital recording. Authenticity is more important than having the best sounding oud on the block

Nice cue.

I'm hearing Middle Eastern aspects and influences. However, I don't think it's consistent that way as it kind of drifts in and out of holding that style. Sometimes it leans more general Muzak-y and 60's retro. I think you need to make Middle Eastern instruments more prominent.

It sounds like this is a higher bar listing so they might want it to be much more dead on. It's well done but I'm not sure it's on target for this listing.

Casey thanks you read my mind . As I was listening to it I noticed I sort of went in and out of a western scale and lost the Eastern mode. So I focused on an eastern scale with more 1/2 steps and used the Indian Bansuri flute and also double the violin with the Turkish OUD LUTE Hopefully it has a more eastern sound. a new version is on my soundcloud http://www.soundcloud.com/777rd

The listing is asking for Middle Eastern with 3 examples of Arabian Music, so why not use an Arabian scale, and why are you using an Indian flute? Anything further east would be China. When I think of Middle Eastern music, I think of something rhythmic enough for belly dancing. Why are you settling for close, when you could hit the bulls eye?

THanks LEN although The scale I am using is I believe an arab scale notes G G# B C D D# F# G maybe I didn't use them the right way. made some changes thanks for your input.

It's getting better but the flute (or what is it?) isn't cutting it for me as a sound here. Go back to the 'a la' references. The lead instrument you bring in at around 00:49 is more like it!

I believe the Scale You are looking for is The Phrygian Mode. In the key of G is
G, A flat, B Flat, C, D, E flat, E, G. So your F# should be E.
You can also sprinkle in some Harmonic Minor.

Thanks Rockchild I believe the F# IS part of the arabic scale in the key of G . The Phrygian mode to my ears has more of a Spanish sound. Although the Harmonic minor does work. Love that scale Used quite often by Richie Blackmoore

I'm going to bow out now as cues and instrument sounds aren't my strongest area. I like this but my gut tells me the lead instrument you have in there now has a harpsichord-ish/keyboard-y sound to it, not coming off Middle Eastern enough. Again, not my strongest area.
