James,There is some really nice stuff going on in that track, and its definitely got the Pop Folk/Soft Rock/Singer-songwriter vibe nailed down. If it were my track, I wouldn't submit it. The first words of that listing are "classic-sounding", and you've got a very contemporary sounding track.

Wow James, what a good song! It's kinda tough to figure exactly what's going to sound "classic" to someone else. I think I might be inclined to gamble my $5 & send it in. One thought;except for Tom Petty most of the older stuff (classic?) wasn't as "dry" as yours. Maybe the right reverb on the mix would take some of the "contemporary" out of it.

Really NICE song! But I'd agree, I think you've got a current sounding mix. Perhaps taking a listen to Joni Mitchell's original version of A Case of You (it has similar instruments in it) for an idea of how to make sound more classic......you've also got a Beatles feel to the bridge jes before the instrumental. They're someone you could listen to, to get that verb sound that was prevalent at that time. I really liked this song.

JamesI'm probably just going to echo what's been said above. I think it nails the listing, bar the contemporary sound. I still think you got a good chance of a forward though. Especially with incomparable metaphors like:'regrets are my companion on this road I chose'and'letting go is my redemption'Thought the vocals could've been a bit hotter given the story-telling type listing that this is.Good song Liam

Hey Guys,Thanks for the good review. Wow! I guess I am going to have to split the difference here and add some reverb. Maybe a little more cowbell! ;-)All the Best!James DavisCustomGuitarTracks.com');// -->james.davis@customguitartracks.com1-866-495-TRAX (8729)
