Apparition

Hi - I'm working on a horror/suspense thingy... would love to get your feedback on it before I do anything else

Hi Vikki,Just a quick listen and I like your ideas a lot.IMO the piece really starts about 40 seconds in when the strings start the chromatic line and the trumpet starts the ascending thing. I would start there and then after the big hit, put the existing intro in and build back up to an even bigger climax. I think you need to grab the potential client right away, your build may be too slow. Just my opinion.On an orchestration note: many of your unison or octave doubled lines sound like they were played once and copied over to the doubling instrument. This makes the lines sound too perfect, no two instrumentalists will ever play that tightly. The slight discrepancies between players is what makes an orchestra sound real. I would suggest tweaking one or the other parts' timing and velocity to give them some slight differences. You'll be amazed at how it will "unMIDI" your sound.Great start, keep going!Mazz

Right now I'm working on the other two points - adding a bigger crescendo at the end & humanizing. But first, it's time for breakfast. Lunch. Brunch?

Gotta eat, composers must have strength for the heavy lifting of pulling fire from the heavens!!!!I like the new version much better, the doublings sound more natural. The piccolo and bassoon(?) octaves still sound a bit mechanical to me but otherwise overall much improved.Ciao,Mazz
