ahh.... another Dispatch challenge... and who knows - thought I'd give it a try...Here's my first draft close to finished track -- honest feedback appreciated Anahit's Dancehttp://
www.taxi.com/vikkiflawithARMENIAN SONGS & INSTRUMENTALS are needed by the Music Supervisor of an award-winning TV drama about Los Angeles-based "rogue" cops that will begin its 6th season soon. He wants current/mainstream material - Pop, Rock, Rap, Electronica, etc. - that is distinctly Armenian. He's not seeking traditional-style Armenian folk music - your material must be very contemporary. Male or female vocals are OK, but they must be in Armenian. All tempos are OK. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK].

I just went to have a listen Vikki, and there's no play button by the song title. It doesn't yet seem to be loaded.

Good looking title!that software, silver east/west? - nice. The clarinet theme is lovely. There are a bunch of cool ethnic bits that give it credibility, I really like the low drum/bass notes until the sitar thing comes in some of the synthy bubbling tech things I find a little disturbing. Are you going to go after any more drum & percussion things? that drum pattern you bring in(not just the hi-hats), might carry the energy even more if it started earlier and stayed in.I could imagine some jimbe (ya know, hippy drums at the beach) A hit on the 1st beat of the bars.Where did you look for Armenian music to listen to? Is it usually in 4/4 time?I know nothing about this style of music, so I'm not giving any advice about how to get a forward at all. Nor am I positive that my suggestions even likely to make your piece of music better. But I am very curious how it turns out for you.

hey, thanks for the listen. I doubt it's Armenian enough, but it does need some more work anyway. I listened to some Armenian electronica and Armenian rap just to get a sense of it. I was pretty sure some of it was 4/4 time. The rap sounded like US rap, with Armenian words. I think I'll wait until tomorrow when I can hear this with fresh ears & work on some of the things you've mentioned.cheersHummin'bird

Quote:I doubt it's Armenian enoughListening to both yours and mine and having a chance to listen to music from what I and a couple of others think the show in question is (it might start with "The" followed by a word that rhymes with "Yield" ), I think our music might be too "nice", the Armenian aspect aside.Google that show name followed by "soundtrack" or music and you'll get some results where you can listen to examples on Amazon and some others. That stuff is really hard, street gritty music.Someone else pointed out to me that they wanted "pop" and some other things where maybe a "softer" style of music might work. I might harden mine up some but I won't have time to do another one like I thought I might.I'm sending in what I have with a few improvement tips from Matto (posted here on the forum). Send yours for sure. Dave

Hey Vikki,I really like this. It's interesting, oriental sounding, kind of "off the wall". It is strange and somewhat gritty, if not in the most obvious way.If I were the screener I would be forwarding this. The only caveat I have is that it's very "underscore like" sounding. So if they are primarily looking for source music (which is usually the case as most of these shows have a regular composer attached that would be in charge of the underscore), it might not work so well for those types of application. But I think you did an excellent job here. It sounds like a CSI type cue with an oriental twist. Best of luck to you!

Very good Vikki, only one problem though Have you got some sex crazed frogs in the studio with you or is a human showing appreciation of a meal Eskimo fashion.

johnnydean.... no Eskimos on Vancouver Island Songwriter... thanks for those thoughts. I think it's a little long but I hope they might give it a chance. I'm not sure if I have the strength to cut it up I have to look into getting Stylus.Quote:Hey Vikki,I really like this. It's interesting, oriental sounding, kind of "off the wall".
