Quote:I saw this listing and thought I would give it a try:MTV-like URBAN/R&B/RAP SONGS along the lines of Usher to Beyonce to Black Eyed Peas to T.I. to Akon are sought by the Music Coordinator of a Cable TV reality series about the making of a Pop band. Male or female vocals are OK. No lyrical restrictions. Mid- to up-tempos only.orSmooth & sexy R&B/SOUL SONGS w/ VOCALS (no instrumentals) a la Chris Brown, Alicia Keys, Usher, Mya, Ne-Yo, Monica, etc. are wanted by one of the biggest and most successful Music Libraries in the business. They want "unique, yet accessible" tracks -- material that is a "cut above" the norm.Early on in the song it wandered in a completely different direction. Here is where it landed:ToplinerIs this something you like the sound of? I've been trying to work some harmonies into the chorus but it starts sounding cluttered. More thought needed on that.I'd say this sounds very Pop. How about trying a version that's sped up quite a bit. It could make a good Dance track. It would probably end up a bit shorter but you could always throw in a few more bars.

Now it sounds Dancey an Funky. It's funny what effect a few subtle changes can have. I think this one is much better.I agree with Dogs on the vocals. I'd like to hear less effect on the lead vocal here, and add or keep that effect on the backing vocals.

Songwriter, this is very reminiscent of Sting (Desert Rose). You've got quite a good head for song writing. Very nice work. I like how you use the human voice as a fill instrument. What equipment do you use? - Matt

Really dig the song man. As a 22 year old "pop enthusiaist"...if you want to make it more current I would do everything you can to stray from the "Sting reminiscents" as someone stated. Simplify the track just a little and use some processed but simple bgv's to fill it out. Much more emphasis on the kick and snare. Crucial part of an pop song...I think you have good placement for them but they need to be more obvious. I like that it has an electronic feel but it's a little too much. Refer to Rihanna's "Umbrella" for a good balance.
