Quick question on minor detail of Copyrighting

Post by mhoffman » Wed May 16, 2007 11:32 am

Hello all,I have a song that I'm ready to copyright. I was going to submit a PA (Performing Arts) copyright for the underlying content of my song, but I read a note in the instructions that said I could also incorporate an SR (Sound Recording) copyright at the same time. My question is, do I have to still pay for each individual registration ($45 each) or can they both be registered at the same time for the price of the PA?Also, Can I copyright a group of songs all at once for the single price of $45 or do I need to pay for each individual song?I hope this is the correct place to post this question, sorry if it wasn't - and thanks to anyone for feedback. -Matthew

SR is only necessary if you have a master recording that you wish to copyright.Give your collection a name: "Collected works of John Doe, Jan 1 to May 15, 2007: #1- Title, #2- Title, #3-Title" etc.Under nature of authorship, put 'WORDS & MUSIC"Make sure you note for yourself which collection each son is copyrighted in.In July this is going on line and will be much easier - $35 for the first song and $1 for each song thereafter.
