Yes I am in that "what in the heck do I have here?" stage. I have it in an ambient genre at the present but am wondering if it is not better suited in the classical or dare I say new age genre. Any suggestion is better than bumping my head in the dark. At GBonce it is in a genre and commited you cant change it without deletingare re uploading. Also if people think it is in the wrong genre they are not shy about telling you. It is called "The Prodigal". Thankshttp://

Hi Kouly,I'm going to classify this as New Age. It seems to fit in to that category. I think it could possibly be Ambient as well, it kind of straddles the line between both, IMO. I wish we could just call it "music" but that's just not possible if you want to compete in the music biz! I think you have a lot of good ideas here. I think you may have a few too many as it feels a bit wandery form-wise. If you were to shorten your intro and get to the melody, it may keep people's attention better, even for the genres that it is in. When the drums come in around 4:07 the melody gets more cohesive. If you got there sooner, I think the piece would work better. The choir texture gets a bit wearing after a while, particularly when it's used as a melody. Your other melody instruments sound nice and I think doubling the voices with those instruments would be more effective. Sampled choirs and solo voices have come a long way since the Korg M1 in the 80s and are no longer the novelty they used to be and so they need to be be handled with much care and taste in order to work well. Less is more in this case, IMO.I hope that this is the kind of feedback you were looking for. Hopefully others will join in and help out as well.Good sounds and ideas, just tighten up the form and vary your arrangement.Keep it up,Mazz

Thanks for the tips, I did take it down because I will repost into another genre probably.I am seeing the extreme value of having a team when writing since no one looks at a piecethe same way. It develops into something one person could rarely achieve. Thanks SW.
