Exclusive Sync deal- help please

Hey Folks,
Just returned from a “production music conference”

and had one of my songs played and critiqued in the main room.
It was a friendly panel...
Do any of you have experience with exclusive sync deals? Structures, upfront, length of deal etc?
I know about staff writer deals living in Nashville but have no clue about how that equates to the sync world.
Thanks for your input.
Best, John

Hey John,
Every deal is different.
Some exclusive deals are perpetual.... and some are for a certain length of time.
I remember 1 deal I got with a sync fee said I could not use the track elsewhere for 1 year.... if I remember correctly.
Others say you can never use the track again.
Hope that helps some,
Tim

Hey Tom, thanks for responding.
I’m probably not wording my inquiry correctly, could be a problem for a songwriter
I’ve done some exclusive and non exclusive song deal but this is an exclusive writer deal.
Basically I would only be able to write for that company for a certain agreed upon length of time. They would own my publishing, I would own writers share and a split of the sync fees generated.
In return I would be paid a stipend upfront. Like staff writer deals used to be structured in the heyday.
Just wondered if you or anyone else on the forums has knowledge of this type of deal.
Thanks again, John
