HARD-HITTING, PERCUSSION-DRIVEN INSTRUMENTALS with some Urban Flavor are needed by hard-working Music Library with a long list of killer placements in Hit TV Shows! This company has just started asking for music from TAXI’s members. It’s very unlikely that you’ve got any music in their catalog, so this is an awesome opportunity to get in on the ground floor and build a relationship with this company!

They want Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:

WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

“Black Skinhead” by Kanye West

“Lemon (Instrumental)” by N.E.R.D & Rihanna

“Give It To Me” by Timbaland ft. Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake

“Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani

Although some of the references have vocals, this request is for Instrumentals only.

Please submit impactful, well-produced Instrumentals that are primarily driven by percussive instrumentation such as (but not limited to) Stomps, Kick, Claps, Slaps, Snaps, Taps, and Bangs. Your production should be rhythmically engaging from beginning to end and have a distinct Urban flavor. Feel free to get inventive and creative with the instruments and sounds you use!

Your submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take. Non-Faded, Stinger endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Also, do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This Company offers both EXCLUSIVE and NON-EXCLUSIVE deals. The specific deal points will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you’re inclined to sign an Exclusive deal, please don’t submit material that’s already signed with any other libraries or publishers for this pitch. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this opportunity. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Friday, March 8th, 2019. TAXI #Y190308PD

Note, these tracks are just a rough mix, and I might be taking them down after a few days to rework them and put any suggestions I receive to use, take care and thanks! :) I hope you all have a wonderful rocking week. 8-)

Hi NoellR,

I like the 1st and 3rd tracks....
BUT, I am not sure how much melody they want in the tracks.
I'm not sure if they want drums ONLY …. or added melodic instruments.

Also, your tracks seem to lack depth...… It is hard to explain what I am talking about....
maybe it's the instrument sound of the keyboard parts...
Maybe they seem dated...or the mix is not full ….. or something.... hard to say what it is.....
The tracks don't have the powerful finished sound of the examples......
If you put on some good headphones or good monitors and A/B your tracks with Holllaback Girl or Black Skinhead, you should be able to hear what I mean.... I think!

My 20 cents worth,
Tim

Thank you Tim and Tom for your help and input! I know my beats tend to be on the mechanical or "robotic" side as the screeners often say, so I definitely have to work on that aspect of my production skills. I will try to incorporate more reverb and claps into these songs. I'm still trying to balance the fine line of too much going on and too little...since simple is considered better than over kill. Back to the drawing board.
Thanks again Tim and Tom, I appreciate your help.

I think you are on the right track, one thing that stood out to me was how dry the mix is compared to the examples. I think using a bus reverb would add some depth.

Hi Dave, thank you for the feedback, I 'm grateful for the advice. I'm working on getting the right reverb for these tracks. :D
