CINEMATIC TRAILER-Style INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a globally distributed Production Music Library with an awesome 20-year history of great placements.

They’re on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could work for Blockbuster Hollywood Movie Trailers. Listen to the following references to get in the general stylistic wheelhouse of what they’re looking for:

Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame - Official Trailer

The Lion King' Official Trailer

The Professor and the Madman Trailer

Please submit heart-pounding Trailer Instrumentals that sound like they're ready for the big screen! Your Instrumentals should follow the kind of structure often heard in trailers, with three distinct acts that build to a climactic crescendo. Your instrumentation can be organic/ orchestral, electronic, or a hybrid of both, as long as it's on par with current Blockbuster Trailers -- in other words, really, really good!

My thoughts are based on the 2nd link, Strange Ways and Endings
Overall I think you've got a lot of nice elements here, and a composition that flows from from to back. Here are a few things to consider:
- I liked the first minute, but thought the panning on the cymbal was a bit too abrupt, consider slowing it down and or reducing the intensity
- from :45 in to the drop around 1:50
-- I liked the motif, and I liked how you layered things
-- I think the motif could have been altered and developed a bit over that minute to keep interest up
-- I thought the sounds needed a little work in this section, low mids and low-end felt cluttered and muddy
- from the drop on
-- same issue with the low-mids and lows
-- I liked the way the ending dropped then climbed back up again, but would have lined up the last note in the piano with that big bass drum hit and let that ring out

I have no expertise making these kind of cues; grain of salt rule applies. Hope this is helpful; cheers
Erich

Hey! I think you nailed the 3 part structure the listing mentioned and that you've got a lot of good ideas about the piece. Here are some things I noticed!

The hard cymbal panning seems too midi generated. Try smoothing it out, or maybe see if you can program some cymbal rolls in there instead of hard panning.
At 00:45 the hi-hat seems a little forward in the mix compared to the other percussion elements.
Maybe layer the bass drum at 00:47 with another sound to thicken up the sound a bit and have it pack more of a punch - or add some more reverb to it and let it ring.
For me the dynamics feel static. Do some intense volume automation rides to really build up the piece and give it that "epic" feel. Especially from 00:45-1:45. I feel like this section should be preparing the listener for the final section.

All in all I think you're on the right track here! Nice work!

Hey Whipple, the first link would not work for me. The second track I listened to two times, and both times the part immediately after the big drop at 1:47 seemed too repetitive (the same phrase is repeated 4 times). Also, the parts before and after the drop (e.g. around 1:39 compared to around 2:00 and afterwards) appeared very similar to me, even though the choir sets in later. So, altogether, and while I am no expert at all(!), I think it is a good start, but I feel some change is needed in the parts that I pointed out, to make it a more powerful piece. Tom

Not only is this thing buggy but when you finally get to the promised land and do a search I actually got 0 replies for The Beatles.
