Hi, I am new to this forum so go easy on me! LOLI am considering a Taxi membership, however, I just don't know if my material is up to the task both sonically and creatively. I would like to get some feedback if at all possible. Not a detailed critique, just an idea if I am in the ball park. You can check out my material at www.chipgallmusic.com or www.broadjam.com/chipgallmusicThanks in advance to anyone that can help me with my decision.Cheers and thanks,Chip

Quote:Is the material that bad that know one wants to comment? Maybe Taxi is not for me after all Oh, now... don't go getting all sensitive on us. Actually I replied to a different thread you started that basically had the same question:http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?a ... &page=1I'd go with the "no news is good news" theory. There's a lot of good musicians around here including yourself. If we all stood around telling each other how great we all are, we wouldn't have enough time to get anything else done. Anyway, four out of seven of your posts have been "Will you listen and comment on my music?". If you balance that out with posts where you contribute to other peoples requests for comments on their music, at least those people would more than likely be open to returning the favor and listen/comment on your music.Don't sweat it. Take a little time to decide on the Taxi thing, participate and contribute when you can and things usually work themselves out when you least expect it.Dave

My apologies...didn't mean to offend anyone. I re-posted in another post because I thought maybe I had posted in the wrong area for the input I was looking for. This is a large forum and it's tricky to find exactly where to post.I am not looking to get stroked by any means. I don't have time for that stuff.I was looking for some feedback (particularly from a production standpoint) from Taxi members to gage if I am in the league that Taxi requires as I am now writing and recording on my own rather than in a band environment.I would gladly provide feedback to other members if I new the standard Taxi was looking for....I know what I think is good however that may not be the level Taxi requires.Anyway if anyone can provide some feedback on my music and it's production (good or bad) that would be great...Thanks!

Quote: Dave have I told you how great you are today? Oh thank you! And I might mention that you're great as well! I have to say that for greatness, we need look no further than our own Hurowitz. Have I told you today you great you are Casey? (someday we'll all pay for this, but in the meantime this could be kinda fun)

One thing maybe you could do is to go to the "Got A Forward" section and listen to some of the music of those that have forwards. Not everyone has a link to their site or their music but from those that do you'll find a WIDE variety of styles and production values. Even though the music might be different from your style, you could probably make some basic judgements on the quality issue. Personally, I don't think that quality is an issue in your case (that's a good thing). Of course music has to sound/be good and we can all improve, etc, but it's really more of a matter of being "right for the job". Getting forwards (and ultimately placements) is almost as much a matter of carefully choosing the listings to match your music and/or writing style. When I first joined Taxi, part of my decision was based on how many listings were available for my particular style and how many listings I could write to/for. The main reason I joined was for the critiques, to use those to improve my music. The critiques, in my estimation, are the most overlooked aspect of Taxi. Good luck with your decision and I hope you keep hanging around. It's an interesting group. Dave

Hey ChipI listened to a few of your songs. They all sound really great to me!! Once music gets to a certain level of excellence, I can't provide any constructive feedback. The productions sound good though that is not my area of expertise. The only thing that struck me was some things sound a little too familiar. The opening riff to Jaded, for example. I wasn't sure if I was about to listen to an original or a cover. I don't know where I've heard that before but, of course, there really is nothing new under the sun in Rock 'n Roll.... And, of course, my starting with the song titled "Jaded" like the Aerosmith hit (one of your influences) added to that. Not being a huge Aerosmith fan, I had to go back and play that song to make sure yours was not a cover.I think it's great to have a retro sound if that's your style. What are your goals? If you want to break out as band you may have to watch the line between retro and "sounds too familiar". For film/TV, your songs would be great- there are often calls for songs of styles from different eras and there is a market for "replacement tracks". For the latter, the more you sound like the retro bands, the better. Please don't misinterpret what I am saying. I think you ROCK and would play your CD in my car anytime. As far as joining TAXI (IMHO) you should only join if you also join Dispatch, where you get quick turn-around film/TV leads emailed to you. You would be able to submit electronically as a Broadjam member. I suspect there will be Dispatch leads for all styles of rock, many of which would be for music libraries. Keep on rockin' Casey
