Hey Guys,

Would anyone mind lending their ears to this track that I've recorded for the 'Heartbreaking Adult Contemporary' pitch, please? I'd really appreciate some feedback on this first mix.

Thanks so much in advance!

HEARTBREAKING ADULT CONTEMPORARY SONGS with Male Vocals are needed pretty quickly for an (up to) $1,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music-Supervisor placement in an Independent Feature Film.

The Supervisor is on the hunt for Down-Tempo Songs that would work well in place of “Breathe Me,” which is currently temped in:

"Breathe Me" by Sia

The Music Supervisor is NOT looking for clones or soundalikes! Similar tempo, feel, and overall vibe? Yes. Clones? No!

NOTE: Although the referenced track has a Female Vocal, the Music Supervisor wants to hear Songs with Male Vocals only.

Quoting the Music Supervisor: "We like the vibe of 'Breathe Me,' but we'd like a Male Vocal."

TAXI Tip: "The scene occurs moments after a tragic event, and the main character’s life is falling apart."

Please submit current-sounding A/C Songs that have a similar sense of heartbreak you'll hear in the reference Song. Be sure that your submissions have well-crafted melodies, super strong choruses, and top-notch productions. All the elements of your Songs – melodies, productions, vocal performances, and lyrics – should highlight and support the depth of gravity in this scene. This character's world just fell apart, so your Songs should reflect that!

I feel like you got carried away a bit too much with all the trickery with the vocals... otherwise, sounds really good!

Hi!

I really love the style of this and your voice (I assume it's yours)... It reminds me of "Modern Man" by Arcade Fire.

The odd low register vocalizations are too distracting, esp in the beginning, I didn't know what it was. I don't think you need it anywhere in the song. Maybe you could do a guitar thing there da da da da da to give a rhythmic element there but keep it higher - like mid freq and more in the background, where you don't really HEAR it. Or, don't worry about that at all and keep it simpler by leaving it out completely.

There is an awkward break around 1:18 that doesn't quite work for me, is it a backwards cymbal and something else mixed in ? I don't know, but needs a smoother transition there. Also sounds like you come in a beat early after that on "The walls...".

The only other picky thing I have is there are definitely pitch issues that pop up a few times....check that.

Love the vibe!

Susan

Thanks, very helpful constructive stuff there. I really appreciate all of that, Susan. It's the first mix, so I'll start going back over it all and I'll definitely add your points to my list of 'to-do's'!

Thanks Zaychi, perhaps I'll look at toning things down a bit. Appreciate your time and response.
