I would say that beat is definitly reggaeton...with the "House" elements.

Pretty cool track. You should add a B section to break it up a little, but I like it.

Yeah Tom, it's kinda weird sometimes to find yourself working on a track that's NOT for a listing. It's kind of a freebee when you realize you can do whataver you want with a song.

That's kind of what I like about Taxi-- sometimes the spark of a listing will get you working on something and then that something takes a left turn and you say "screw it" to the listing and keep following the idea where it wants to go.

But being in Taxi and letting the listings guide you is like growing a tomato garden-- sometimes you need one of those little wire trellis things to give your ideas some shape and support so they can grow upward and bear fruit.

The more I listen to it, the more I dig it.

It would work either way, but something about that melody is really lyrical and I think it could be awesome as a vocal song. For some reason though, when I think of it as a vocal song, I picture a bittersweet Swedish pop treatment-- maybe with a chorus that comes in with a major key contrast.

I could hear a chorus coming in on Eb major and then you have a lot of options there with how it could go. Messing around with your idea right now at the keys-- hope that doesn't feel invasive--I'm procrastinating from working on a post-rock listing that I need to get working on, haha. But yeah there's a lot of stuff you could do with this track. ;)

Thanks for listening, Andre. Maybe you recognized that little, old melody... :)

Thanks for your comment, Ted.

The issue is that no one asked for this track, so I am not sure if/how I will further develop it.

SC suggests #Electronic and #(Minimal) Techno. So, is it "Reggaeton Techno"?? :? 8-)

Tom
Yes I do recognize the melody...good, it found a home.

Hey Forum Folks,

Originally, I wanted to create Latin Pop, but it went somewhere else. :) Kind of a Reggaeton beat, leaning towards Dance:

Any ideas? A las?

Tom
Track was removed, but latin pop is mostly regaton lite anyway.

Sorry, missed the new link. I am not much of a house expert, but the melody is definitely not regaton or latin pop. So you are probably on the right track for house.

Sorry, no earworm feel. The mix of melancholy melody and industrial percussion doesn't work for me. Strictly personal, prolly.
And ffs, turn down that base in the mix.

Sorry for this, Zaychi - I hope I did not make your ears bleed!!
Hey Tom,

I kind of agree with Zaychi. You have some great instruments that are more melancholy. Also, reggaeton has a little bit of an extra snare hit either every second or fourth measure. You would need to add slight alternatives in the beat to avoid the drum machine syndrome. Reggaeton is a music that is built up from the beat. The melodies you put up sort of clash with the rhythm and overtake them. They are beautiful and when I listen to them I actually forget there is a reggaeton beat there. It is not uniform but I enjoyed the listen!

Cheers
Robert

I think its sort of Chill out/House. There is a kind of Swedish house Mafia vibe also.
I would like to hear a great big fat saw tooth pad with the filter opening up somewhere, but that's just me.
I love the melody!
