ANTHEMIC STOMP-CLAP INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by an EXCLUSIVE, LA-based Music Licensing Company that specializes in music for Movie Trailers, TV, Films, and Video Games.

This Company is looking for Instrumentals in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references we got directly from them:

Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumental Cues only for this pitch.

NOTE: We realize that these references are pretty different from each other genre-wise. We think you can get pretty creative in your approach, instrumentation, and mood; but an obvious, anthemic stomp-clap beat should be the base of your pieces.

Please submit modern Instrumental Cues with anthemic stomp-clap rhythms. Craft your Cues around a singular motif and mood, and create a sense of forward momentum and dynamics by layering instrumentation in and out as they progress. Please be sure your production is polished and any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality and fresh.

Submissions should be about 90 seconds to 3 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This Company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the material you submit for this request CANNOT be signed with other publishers or catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50. The big drum sounds muffled to me, and the claps need improvement (they sound more like an old school drum clap, which is not bad, but not anthemic). Listen again to the references provided in the listing... replace the claps or add more. You've got them panned for a nice stereo effect, but I think they need more meat. The bass synth could use some more beef, and the pluck synth that comes in every now and then seems a little dated. You might reduce the reverb as well, the reference tracks are not as rich with reverb as your track is.

Thank you for your comments and help. Could you expound a little on what specifically you think would improve the "claps." I worked them quite a bit and it was a real challenge. What, in your opinion, kind of "clap" best represents something anthemic?

Hi, John.

With the claps, maybe think less like clapping at a birthday party (lots of clapping) and more like clapping to the beat at a concert to achieve a more anthemic effect. Less is more in this case. I also hear a stereo-panned delay effect on your claps. I would keep the delayed sound together with the original, up the middle, to make it seem more full and solid. You will notice that neither of the reference tracks pan the claps like that. And to make the clap sound fuller you could try to layer your clap with different types of clap or maybe even a snare.

He beat me to it. Think group claps, lots of people... not a simple drum machine clap. If you don't have any good clap samples (you can probably find some on Sounds.com), you can bounce your clap to an audio file, then copy/paste it into three or four other tracks. Pan them a little differnetly, and detune or transpose them so that they are different. Put one down a step, another up a step, anther about 20 cents up or down. Then bounce all four of those tracks down to a single new track and you now have a thicker clap that you made yourself.

Also, don't forget to move all those individual claps a different amount of milliseconds apart... when a group of people is clapping, they don't all hit the exact same beat either.
