Hi all - I'd love your feedback on this dramedy cue I plan to submit for upcoming listing S210821OD "ORCHESTRAL-Based DRAMEDY INSTRUMENTAL CUES" (listing and reference tracks given below).

I'm a relative newbie at mixing, so mix comments would be especially helpful. Also suitability as per the reference tracks (especially the Steve Barden track)? Any/all comments much appreciated.

"Desperate Elves" by Steve Barden
"Sneaky Snitch" by Kevin MacLeod

Please submit top-notch Dramedy Instrumental Cues that could work well in the context of funny or quirky scenes in competition-based Reality TV Shows. Craft your Cues around a singular motif, and create a sense of forward momentum and dynamics by layering instrumentation in and out as they progress. Please be sure that your production and any virtual Orchestral instrumentation you use are high-quality and modern – nothing low-quality or synthetic-sounding will work for this request.

NOTE: The placements generated from this Company will likely have good royalty payouts on the backend since they would be on Major Network Shows! Sounds great to us!

Your submissions should be about 90 seconds to 2 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy the referenced material in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

I love this! I would not be totally surprised if it was accepted as is. Howevah ...

Yours is considerably brighter and more energetic feeling than either of the refs. I wonder if it needs to be toned down a bit in order to be more "background friendly"?

Thanks Michael - I'll take another listen regarding the brightness and see if I can get closer. I'm not to worried about the energy/busy-ness aspect - those two references are so different. I'm working on one that's targeted at the slower reference.

I think it is brill! Might perhaps bring down the woodwinds melodies a notch, to better blend in with the pizzicatos. Also, bring up the latter a notch when the melodies are not playing.
Last, I like the momentum of your piece

OMG this is cool!! I can see it working easily in an animated film (don't know if that's the target).

Bass sounds nice but maybe a little hot?? Just a little if any.

Maybe extend that little break down section at 1:00 a couple of bars? A thought, break the tempo for a bit.
