Hi All, Long time haven't ask for your input here.
Hope all is well

EPIC, JAPANESE-flavored INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a great Music Library with International Distribution and lots of success in Film and TV placements.

This Library is looking for Instrumentals in the stylistic ballpark of the following references:

"The Last of Clan Adachi" by Ilan Eshkeri

"Canyon Race 1: Drift Itsumo" by Trevor Morris

"Wrath of the Fire Gods" by Luc St-Pierre

Here is my pitch.

Used Japanese scale and instruments... Taiko, Sakuhachi, kodo small drums....
I was looking to be closer to Canyon Race...

Thanks for your help...

Pierre

Sounds good! Listening to the refs, I think maybe yours could use a higher pitched driving element.

Maybe more quick, short, punctuated, rhythmic notes on the shakuhachi, to up the feeling of urgency and excitement?

To my ears, this sounds like a Western tune which happens to be played on Japanese instruments... they also have a complete doctrine of chording, harmony, and progressions. I don't hear any of those in your track, I feel like if you replaced all samples with Western instruments there wouldn't be anything "Japanese" left.

Otherwise:
- I don't think you need the riser/electronic break around 1:25, it doesn't fit to the rest of the track.
- The deep bass-ey instrument sounds MIDI, especially in isolation like around 0:46, almost like a synth bass. You might only get away with that in a full instrumentation, not solo like this.

No, I won't be submitting for this listing, but really intrigued by the genre - lots of possibilities with rhythm and instrumentation. Keep up the good work!
