Your Song is two bars to short?

Hi Guys
I have been a member here on Taxi for a month now.
The first three songs I submitted got forwarded, so that was a good start.
Last week I submitted to this listing: TAXI # S210823TN - Organic Tension Cue.
The screener loved my track but he said that it was a couple of bars too short, so he couldn't forward it.
This was the only critique he had! He liked the tension and the build-up throughout the song.
English is only my second language because I'm from Denmark, so I don't know the phrase "2 minutes - give or take".
My track is 1.44 minutes and I thought it was enough under this concept, but I have found out that it has to be really close to 2 minutes.
But when I have pitched a good song and everyone knows that if it got used in a tv-show, it would only play for 10-20 seconds, I think this is a rather thin rejection.
What do you think?

Unfortunately, as many of us have experienced, the length of a track is very important. Usually, +/- 5 seconds are ok, and rarely a +/-10 too might be acceptable. If a publisher/library requests a certain length, it has to be that, as they know better than us what they are looking for.
So, if the request is for 2 minutes give or take, 1:55 or 2:05 is usually a safe range. If the request is for "between 90 seconds and 2 minutes", the safe range can be 85 seconds and 2:05 minutes.
Also, a longer piece is better than a shorter one, as then music editors can work with that more easily.

I found this to vary some from listing to listing depending on the client. Some are stricter than others. And there could be some variation from screener to screener.
I suggest you email headscreener AT taxi dot com for clarification. Not to complain, just to get some more info on it.
Good luck!

It's a direct email address, not via the Taxi website. Substitute @ for AT and use taxi.com. (no spaces).

Nice cue !
Yeah on the surface it seems like a poor reason to return it. Don't think I have had a placement that lasted much more than a minute...if they are giving that as the only reason , well..it's a bit controversial in my book.
Don't worry I'm sure you'll soon be getting emails from Libraries and will have no trouble finding a home for it.
