Please submit well-composed Instrumentals that use Orchestral and Piano instrumentation to create a positive, uplifting vibe and sound. Your submissions should have captivating melodies, solid arrangements, and excellent musicianship. Please be sure that all virtual instruments you use are high-quality and modern – nothing lo-fi or dated will work for this request. Your production should be polished and contemporary, as well.

TAXI Tip: We suggest trying to keep your submissions on the simpler side, melodically. Your job is more about establishing an uplifting mood rather than winning "Composer of the Year"!

Submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take, and have non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Production-wise: The FX at the start is a little high, I think it would work better if low-passed to an extent. The strings are way too harsh and dry for me. The deep strings later are over-powering everything. I would dial them down at least by 5 dB and maybe even high-pass them at 77 Hz, or so. At the very end, in the reverb tail, there is some sort of bang that seems out of place.

What would you do, specifically, to make the strings not so "harsh and dry?" I used the Taxi recommended Cinematic Studio Strings and worked both the modulation and expression as I'm sure you can hear. I'm eager to hear your recommendation for improvement. Thanks! John

Hi John

I think this version is better, the strings jump less at me. If I was you, I would simply throw my favourite reverb plugin onto the strings, possibly choose something like a cathedral setting and start dialing the wetness and/or time down until it sounds "right". But it could be that a standard hall setting works better, you'd have to try out. At the moment, I hardly hear any reverb and I feel that they need some "space" and move a little aways from the listener.

Hi John - You could also try a delay effect instead of reverb to get some blend and a feeling of size, sustain etc. but perhaps a bit subtler and cleaner. Don't know if it would be better but maybe worth a try.
