Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some feedback before I submit to "Sad Piano & Strings."

https://soundcloud.com/user-265280615/m ... al_sharing

Thanks!

Here's the listing:

Several SAD PIANO & STRINGS INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Music Licensing Company with a large list of placements in Films, TV Commercials, and A-List TV Shows.

NOTE: This Company has signed lots of TAXI members over many years and nailed down lots of placements for them!

This Company is looking for quite a few Instrumental Cues that could be found on a playlist with the following references:

"Soluble Leaf" by Jordi ForniƩs

"Compassione" by Peter Cavallo

"Into the Abyss" by Jackson Mullane

Please submit well-composed Instrumental Cues that could tug at listeners' heartstrings and feature Piano and Strings as their only instrumentation. Your submissions should have melancholy melodies, top-notch musicianship, solid arrangements, and an overall sad vibe and feel. Craft your Cues around a singular motif, and create a sense of forward momentum and dynamics by layering instrumentation in and out as they progress. Your production should be polished, and if you are planning to use any virtual piano or string instruments, they need to be very realistic and high-quality, as anything that sounds synthetic, low quality, or obviously MIDI-driven will not work for this request.

This is beautiful music, I think a good representation of what is being asked for. I'm going to get picky here because this is nice.

You might revisit the mix, perhaps bring the cello down a little bit. When I listen to your track compared to the references your track is a little more bright. I also think the piano tone is a little bright or harsh for the mood.

As far as the cello goes, I would like to hear some more dynamics instead of sustained volumes... it needs to be a little more emotional. For example, the phrase that starts at 0:36-0:40. The long note sustains the end pf the phrase, I would prefer to hear a decrescendo. Same with some of the other phrases.

But again, I'm being picky. I've had forwards and returns in this genre, you never know with the screener... I got one returned due to pitch issues, Funny enough, it was the Tina Guo vet, so I'm not sure what the screener was referring to. :)

I like your title very much. When the strings have long notes, they don't sound realisitic enough. Also your quarter notes need to have more realistic legato. Nice piece and worth working on.

Thank you both for your input, that is very helpful to me! Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the quarter notes/dynamics/sustain... Paulie, I do hear the brightness and will tone that down before submitting.
