New Retro Game Show Track (sorry for being a pain)

Hi guys,

So, as is my want, I've done another track as well as the other I've done. I wanted to at least have a stab at doing two of these as I think it's an area (retro-style music) I could really hone in on.

It's not completed yet, couple of timing issues etc. but I think this is nearer the mark.

Again here's the listing, and I'll pop a link below for the track:

//Original, RETRO, GAME SHOW INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a globally distributed Music Licensing Company that's had a lot of success landing TONS of Major Network placements every year.

THIS COMPANY PAYS AN UPFRONT FEE! More info below.

This Company is looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could be heard on a playlist with the examples below:

The Hollywood Squares Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsgu2efvbC4

The Dating Show Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85t-xAv9xn0

Match Game Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXo9wAWn-hA

NOTE: You can submit recently recorded Instrumentals in the general style of the references that capture the authentic sound needed, OR if you have high-quality vintage recordings (recorded back in the day), they would love to hear those as well!

Please submit original, Game Show Instrumentals with a fun and kitschy retro sound! Your submissions should have unforgettable motifs, dynamic arrangements with forward motion and interest, and plenty of emotionally upbeat, feel-good energy. Instrumentation that's in the general ballpark of the references will work best for this pitch (energetic horns, engaging rhythms, retro synths, electric guitar, etc.). Please make sure your productions are well-balanced and era-appropriate, and that any virtual instruments or samples you use are high quality and realistic-sounding.

NOTE: This company is searching for Original Instrumentals only - not cover versions of existing game show themes.

Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.//

Thanks in advance:

Hi,
I'd say that this one is a LOT closer than the previous one you posted. Things I might want to adjust include:
- getting the tuba to sound like its in the same space as the rest of the brass, so maybe tweak it's ambience and pan it more centrally.
- tidying up the midi on the horns around 39-41s.
- easing back on the piercing muted trumpets by pulling back their top end a hint.
- getting a more natural/shorter fade on the final cymbal so it doesn't sound chopped-off.
That's all easy housekeeping though and the rest sounds good to me.
Hope that helps, good luck!
Cheers mate, I really appreciate the feedback. You can either roll over or crack on, which I decided to do. I think it's much, much better.

I'll get the things suggested implemented right away!

Thanks again.

Possibly, I think there's enough melodic variation to warrant it. I think the big bassoon evokes it quite strongly, but not necessarily a bad thing. I suppose we'll see!

How did you get on with your submission by the way?

Dave

Bachelor #3: I don't think it sounds that close to The Dating Game theme.

Bachelor #2: I like it. I think it's a contender. Good luck!

Hey David, I just commented on your other track before coming to play this version of "bash the composer" (just kidding)

I like it, it's spunky and spicy in all the right ways!

As suggested, the tuba player (trombone, I think!) needs to not sound like they're really hungover and wandering about off-stage. The whole arrangement is much denser than the 'dating game' theme, and I think that contributes to the excesses of stereo imaging and "blatty" (technical term) playing. The trombone player would need a week off to recover from that song

Good luck! I'll be looking to see who the lucky winners of "nail that forward" are.

Ha, thanks mate. It's much appreciated.

I've followed all the previous hints and I've wrangled my brass section.

Never heard the term "blatty" before, does that just mean stuff slung all over the stereo range? I shall let you know how I get on!

Oh and the trombone player is currently in a coma.

It's the sound you hear when the player's lips are forced so hard against the mouthpiece they stick out the other end of the horn, at the bell.
