Forward/Return? (First Post, Hello!)

Hey friends!

First post here, been with TAXI for three months. I’ve had two forwards and plenty and plenty of returns - (most of which have been fair!) - but, as I’m sure we all have experienced, some that have caught me by surprise.

Hoping to utilize this forum to get some insight on listing submissions that I feel confident in. I’ll try not to ever post potshot songs here - my goal is to get insight to refine the submissions I feel stand a chance so that I don’t have that dreaded “why on earth was this returned” feeling.

I would definitely love to make a connection with anyone looking to make a connection, so feel free to say hi as a comment - but please only provide a note on the tune if it is a note that you feel very strongly would be of benefit to the project.

ADVANCE NOTE:

If you listen to the references, you’ll hear a lot of fuzz in the vocal processing. I intentionally tried to replicate this vibe.

The listing I am working on is: S230918CK

“Lots of FUN POP/ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a great Publisher with an awesome track record of really big placements in TV Commercials!”.

Lyric Tip: Simple, easy-to-digest, feel-good lyrics that could work well in TV commercials will work best for this request, so please avoid anything that is too moody, dark, or depressing.

Thanks friends! This one was a little out of my comfort zone but was definitely a fun learning experience.

Yeah good track, I would say Forward although I don't liike the flange-y chorus type sound on the guitar which makes it a little dated to my ears

Thanks for taking a listen and nice to meet you! I noticed the first two tracks in the reference (second one in particular) were channeling some sounds from the early 00's and while I'm not sure if that's a current retro-revival style or not felt I should give it a nod like they did. I'd agree though, any revival means it's inherently a bit dated right? Haha, thanks again!

Hey JSP -- welcome Taxi! Love the tune, nice work. I would forward -- it fits in well with the refs and meets the criteria of the brief. Especially liked the break at 1:36, wondering how you created that? Anyway, looking forward to hearing more of your music ;)

I like it, great job! If it was mine I'd be tempted to want to lighten the snare tone a hint and also drop its level a touch so you can hear more of the claps and the variation they bring, but that's subjective stuff. I think its a really good submission so best of luck for a forward and beyond.
Thanks Graham! I'll give that a test and see how it sounds, nice to meet you!

Thanks Douglas! Nice to meet you! That effect was created with palm muted sixteenth notes on a 1/8th dotted delay with Logic's tremolo plugin on 1/4 at the end of the chain!

Very cool -- thanks for explaining that, much appreciated!
