IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE LIBRARY: "Many composers throw in way too many ideas and are not focused on ONE CENTRAL MOTIF - they try to keep things interesting by adding new harmonic lines and elements (melodies, even improvisations, etc.), instead of focusing on the productions and textures." Put simply, keep it SIMPLE! We know that other Libraries like to receive music with complementary A and B sections, but this Library is NOT one of them - stick with ONE CENTRAL MOTIF per submission please!

Please send in top-notch, percussion-driven Pop Instrumentals with lots of
emotionally upbeat energy! Your submissions should have super catchy motifs,
engaging rhythms/beats, and simple arrangements with one central motif per piece. Pop instrumentation with lots of rhythmic percussion that's in the general wheelhouse of the reference tracks will work best for this pitch. Please make sure your productions are polished, and any virtual instruments or samples you use are high quality and not dated-sounding.

All submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take. Good edit points and non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings are required. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists' music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This Music Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal with a cool twist. You'll keep 50% of all gross income generated by your music, plus you'll get 100% of the Writer's share income generated by your PRO. In other words, if the company licenses your music under a blanket deal, you'll get income. If they license it for a YouTube video, you'll get income. Hey Michael! If you listen carefully to your own track in comparison to the three refs - what do you notice?

Percussion: Yours sounds like a rock set, there I hear more Trap/Hip-Hop (808s, hihats, ...) instrumentation and rhythms, with breaks.

Synth: I do not hear a jarring saw synth with a jazzy freestyle line in any of the refs. Melody in the references is more sparse, synths comically modern or more organic (like brass). The synth you use sounds very dated and low quality.

Overall production: Your freestyle synth line often clashes with your perc, but also overpowers it the entire time. It conveys an improvised and almost chaotic feel, not the slick production style of the refs. I do not hear any "super catchy motifs".

Conclusion: 100% mismatch.

It has been written many times: Try and re-engineer 8 bars of the ref you like the most. Then start changing it.

Seriously, Tom, thanks for taking the time and going into detail.

Pretty far off from the references.

Before I start working on a listing, I sit down with a pen and pad and take notes to the reference tracks. Is the genre of the references close to any genres I listen to in my day to day life? What sound choices do the references have in common. Whats the bpm of the references? Are there really melodic elements or simple motives?

Then if I think it's a genre I can pull off I start working on the track.

I always get the feeling you aren't doing any A/B listening against any of the reference tracks. It's been suggested before that you capture the sound from a reference track (lots of tools out there for doing that on your PC or Mac) and put that in your DAW. Then do A/B listens between the reference and your own. If you're already doing that, I just don't know what to say. You're not hearing things right or you are doing "wishful listening".

Micheal, rather keep repeating the same thing I wanted ask what YOU think of your own music ? Do you think it comes close to resembling the references or can you hear what we hear when we say that it's really nothing like ?

If you think they sound anywhere near the ball park then there is a massive dissconnect between what we are hearing and what you are hearing. Which is a problem because if your brain can't distinguish between the two for whatever reason then any goal you have for sync becomes null and void. I don't pretend to know what your goals are but being a Taxi member would indicate you at least have some aspiration to get music into a TV show , advert or movie.

I am trying to think of a good anology to make it clear how it seems from the point of view of those of us that are already doing what you're trying to do.

Imagine Casey, Graham(UK) and mysefl all make pizzas, and we are all chef's in a big pizzas resteraunt. We know the secret to a great pizza is the dough for the base, Graham prefers a certain type of flour and to do it the tradiotnal way by hand, Casey prefers to buy in a ready made pizza dough that he feels tastes good but maybe costs more to buy in , and I like to make my own dough but I have a dough machine which means I don't have to do as much kneading as Graham.

We get asked to make various different types of pizzas , with different flavours and toppings. We each specialize in slightly different flavours. People go to Graham for the meaty pizzas, Casey makes great veggie toppings and if people want something more hot & spicy then I'm the guy. We have lots of customers that come along and we provide them with the types of pizzas they like best. Sometimes they don't like what we serve and they send it back but we keep those to one side as someone else may want that same style of pizza. In this way we run our business and make a little money and have some fun along the way as well as a bunch of happy customers and the satisfaction that our product is professioanl and well liked.

Then along comes chef Micheal who also wants to get into the pizza game. But guess what ? He doesn't understand how to make the base but he enters the fray anyway and decides to give it it shot. So does he go away and learn how to make dough, or follow Casey's idea and get something ready made ? No..he just uses whatever is at the back of the store cupboard....who cares if it doesn't come out like a pizza ? Maybe the customers will love it anyway right ? So he slops a litlte sauce onto a dried up crust , finds some dried noodles that smell vaguely of mushrooms and sprinkles that on on top and serves it up.

The problem is this is so unlike pizza, or even edible food that nobody will touch it. Casey, Graham and a bunch of other chef's gather and tell Micheal he needs to learn to make the dough first before he can even contemplate makng a pizza. They even share their recipe ideas with him and tell him to go way and study them in the hope this will help. But what happens ? He comes back again witha "new " so called pizza that's just as unpaletable as the the previous ones. Noboody wants to eat it, everyone tells Micheal he needs to compare his pizza to the pizza side by side with pizzas everyone is enjoying from the other chefs and if he puts his dried bread and noodle concotion beside theirs tehn sure'y he would see and taste where he is going wrong. That whatever he has made isn't pizza and never will be. Wrong base, wrong sauce, wrong toppings. Does chef Micheal even know how to work the pizzza over ? Or is he just shoving it in the microwave and hoping for the best ?

So chef Micheal goes of and buys some better toppings for his next pizza, surely this will make the difference. The dried noodles are gone now but Micheal has still never learned to make the right kind of dough and taste the difference between his mouldy dried slice of back of the cupboard dough and the freshly baked bases the other chefs are using. They tatse the same to him and he now uses some of the same toppings that they do but he doesn't know how to prepare them properly, so instead of finely slicing and roasting his peppers before hand like the other chefs he's just roughly chopping and throwing them on top raw.

No matter how many variations he makes nobody wants to eat his pizzas as they don't have the right base and after several years he still hasn't figured that out, the skill and care the other chefs have trained for is absent in Micheal's pizzas and no customer would want to eat them when they can jsut as easily get a great pizza from one of the other chefs.

Despite all this chef MIcheal contues merrily buying ingedients in the hope that he will one day make an edible pizza. The other chefs have long given up hope he will ever manage this and go back to their own chef stations to make more pizzas and come up with new tasty recipes for their customers and hopefully turn a worthwhile profit.
