How would you re-imangine this song?

I've had some successes re-doing older songs of mine that were catchy-- with different styles, better productions, better lyrics, better vocalist, etc. This is a song I did maybe 20 years ago with a bit of a Pearl Jam sound. At least the singer reminds me of PJ.
Pretend there was a listing for a re-imagined cover of this song in any popular genre/style. What might you do? Pop? Singer-Songwriter? More modern rock? etc.

Note: There is a bad splice, off some beats at around 1:46. I removed a 3rd verse and this will become the "rough" anyway.
Thanks!

Casey, no joke, somehow I re-imagined something like Britney Spears - Oops!...I Did It Again
But I believe your original version will be better
Cheers!

Hmmmm.... I''ll give it consideration?
Thanks! Actually, I am thinking about a pop 4 of the floor beat.

I wouldn't.
Just write a new song, leave this one be. It works as is.

I knew you would say, "just write a new song". It is pretty good as is but I never got bites from my "go to" libraries. With songs like that, I sometimes re-do them and they end up in the Crew. Good hooks don't come to me every day so I tend to savor what I have. I never throw away.
Thanks.

I remember this song!!
Not sure how to re-imagine it. Could be done in numerous ways. To begin, I think I might try to stay somewhat true to the original vibe/tempo.

Hi there. Ok so I loved the song. For sure reminded me of bands I grew up with in the 90's. The only thing I can think of is to make the beginning a bit shorter, the first verse seems a tad long. I think it would give the song more energy. But I agree, I wouldn't update this to sound super current because it might rob it of it's cool style. I mean sure, you could add more stuff maybe in the chorus, but don't change the overall sound.

My first impression is that the chord progression is typical (archetypal? archetypical?) of grunge and other 'heavy' genres. At first blush I'm not sure how those chords could be changed to pop-friendly choices and still keep the vibe of the song. An interesting challenge, though.
I like the song, Casey! Can you "re-imagine" the hook (that appeals to you) and write a treatment - new lyrics, chords - that fits a new, different genre?
