Re: Christmas song review ...
Hi Akron,
First off welcome to the forum, I see that this is your first post. Guarneteed you will have a good time. I've learned so much from my "forum buddies".
I gave your tune a listen and I have a few suggestions, first the song has a lot of potential.
My overall impression is that the mix needs a lot of adjustment. actually I listened a couple of times and I'm still not sure of what the singer is saying in a lot of places. When in the lower alto range the instrumentation drowns her out. The higher range notes I feel the singer ( I'm not sure if this is you singing) is getting there but it feels like a real stretch. thus, the problem, this tune has really low and really high parts, so rewriting it to a different more comfortable key will be hard. I only mention this because I can hear the screeners now, suggesting a new key. Also being a Christmas tune IMO it should have a softer, warner feel.
I think once you find the right balance between the vocals and the orchestra, your song will find its magic...
Good luck with it, I hope my comments a of help for you.
Bob

Re: Christmas song review ...
Hi,
I thought it was a nice song, good vocals, she/you?? has STRONG voice. There are a FEW moments, maybe only 1 or 2 and I just thought I heard 3, when she gets a tiny bit pitchy. I would imagine in a pro studio they would have made her re-sing a few spots. But for a demo, or a TV listing the vocals are probably fine as is with the "iffy" spots. Most of the vocals show a powerful voice... that is pretty cool. The music was a nice backing.. and MAYBE the bells were distracting at times, from the vocals. SO it wouldn't hurt imho, to drop them like 2db on the peaks at least.
Nice song.. if I did it, I would be proud.
Btw, Just for future reference, It would be polite to review a few other people before asking for a review, to show you are willing. Scratch each others back sort of thing. Since this is your first post...
Anyway, Good Luck!!

Re: Christmas song review ...
Thanks for the replies. We hired the vocal talent to come into our studio. We really liked her strong voice and she was pretty confident in her abilities. I didn't want to mess around with trying to pitch correct her voice until we got some feedback on the song overall.
