Hi folks...I've redone this tune so many times and never felt like I drilled it. Let me know what you think...I tried to create more lift into the choruses and at the same time make them more spacious like the referenced tracks, by yanking some lines of text that were in the rockier version. I feel like the choruses need a rewrite, but it wasn't in the cards for this weekend.

AMERICAN IDOL needs POP SONGS! Quoting one of the show's Producers here: "We need HEARTFELT, MOVING SONGS that can be positive or negative: 'I'm going to conquer it all' to 'I've totally messed up and lost it all' lyric themes could work well. The songs need to have a BIG CHORUS and a big, EMOTIONAL feeling. Piano pop is preferred, but not an absolute must. Avoid songs that are very beat driven. Some songs that are good examples for 'feel and vibe' are 'Apologize' by Ryan Tedder/One Republic, and 'She Will Be Loved' by Maroon 5. Artist Jared Lee is also a good a la." There you go folks, direct from the horse's mouth. DO NOT rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape or form. Quoting the show's Producer again, "These songs will be used during the Idol auditions. We make video clips of certain contestants, and some of those audition clips make it on to the show." Your submissions need to sound like CONTEMPORARY HITS! Keep the dated stuff on the shelf for this pitch. MALE and FEMALE vocals are BOTH okay for this pitch. ALL TEMPOS will be considered. Broadcast Quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine). You must own or control 100% of the Master and Composition rights. If your song is selected for the show, the producers will contact you directly. They told us that any attempts to contact the show's staff directly will result in being disqualified from this and future submissions. We believe them, they sounded serious! Please submit one to three SONGS online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS. NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. Thanks so much for trying, friends...not sure what's going on, but must still be some digital fishiness on TaxiMusic. Deleted the old one and uploaded a new one, but now there are TWO copies up there, both without play buttons.

I hope these technical issues don't affect your (and our) submissions...

Have/will you contact Taxi about this?

I'm going to give them a call once our west coast friends are awake. I have no doubt they'll be great about taking care of anything that arose with the technical issues over the weekend; never gotten anyone on the phone at Taxi who wasn't absurdly helpful. In thus case, I did go ahead and submit, in case I had issues with that, and everything seemed to work properly, although the play button still isn't showing.

Hi everybody - they're not sure why that play button isn't showing up, but just FYI for anyone else who might be having the issue, they guy at Taxi said that it won't affect the submission...guess the system for streaming from our hosting accounts is separate from however they submit to screeners.
