Hi Martin,

I listened to some of your tracks and they really sound great! You've got a great style going on and it's all quite tastefully done.

Voxless Groove is VERY CLOSE in my opinion. It has the right groove, changes and underpinnings you'd expect in a disco tune. My only concern is that it crosses over into smooth jazz territory and doesn't exactly cry out DISCO.

Perhaps a little more dance-oriented syncopation might drive it firmly into the disco camp. More guitar accents, a little more on the drums (high hats). I'm not certain, but am throwing these couple of suggestions out for you.

This tune may already be done and ready for submission. I'm interested in hearing what others have to say.

Hey there,

All the upper register activity, the arpeggios... say 90s to me, Anita Baker, et all.

If you want that 70s disco vibe, it's all in the big, fat, thick, up-front bass. It
has to be sweaty and in yo' face. When you thing disco, think big bottom.

Your track is awesome, but it's more of a 'quiet storm' track.

Burpo - know exactly what your saying, I've played a lot of that stuff in bands and know exactly what you mean. Though I do think the vibe of mine fits closer to maybe say Kool and the Gang? As listening to a few of their numbers like 'Get Down On it' they seem to be not quite as in your face as some of the other disco stuff and use more of a simple groove structure like mine.

One idea I had after listening to Kool and the gang in particular was to put some synth type brass over the top of the piano to give it that Disco era edge and put less emphasis on like you say the 90's which was dominated by use of the piano.

Gotta be worth a try I reckon

The performance is stellar.
For a more seventies sound I would swap the piano sound for a vintage fender roads and/or clave.
Also more up front bass with dirt. The drums should stay warm. Listen to some Kool and Gang. Their sound suits what your doing.
Remember in those days they played live in the studio. No midi, no sequencers and no DAW.

I've made some small changes just wondered if I was getting there?

I've added more funky guitar picking over the chorus as I noticed that when checking out Kool and the gang...

I've changed the main sound to a rhodes, but kept some of the piano underneath.

Given the bass a bit more of a kick and added a simple clav riff to the verse.

I'm hoping these things may made it more disco?
