The full band demo studio production is now on my Taxi page :That's Gonna Leave A Mark
What do you all think? (I'm pretty stoked!)
Hi all,
I wanted to find out what happens when you have all the work done by somebody else!
I sent this tune to a demo studio in Nashville to give it a go. I'm dipping into the country end of the pool again
for some reason, this song came at me and I couldn't ignore it.
I talked to the studio owner and asked if he had a vocalist that would fit this and he did, but recommended I sing it myself.
What do y'all think about that- I thought having an authentic country twanger would make it an easier artist pitch,
but he said not so much...
He's going to start work tomorrow- I'll post the progress, this should be highly educational!
Please feel free to comment on the song and the lyrics too.
Thanks! -Rob

That's Gonna Leave A Mark c. Robert Carroll 8/30/12
V1:
I remember the first day in our new house
All we could do was laugh
When I dropped that chair from the top of the stairs
And it broke it right in half
"That's gonna leave a mark" you said
And sure enough it was true
After all these years the marks still here
But that's more than I can say for you
Pre:
Now I'm reading your note in the kitchen
Hear the wind in the old oak tree
One hell of a way after all these years
To find out you're leaving me
Chorus:
That's gonna leave a mark
That's gonna leave a bruise
Like the ones I got as a kid
When daddy started hitting the booze
That's gonna leave a mark
One that you can't see
And now God only knows the mark you're leaving on me
Bridge:
In my dreams I am falling
And I'm calling out your name
Like that old chair
Tumbling down the stairs
Some things will never be the same
V2:
I should have known better before this
When something just don't feel right
When I drove two hours to fix your car
You were driving late at night
I know I could have treated you better
Spent a little less time at the bar
But would it have made any difference
To where you went that night in your car?
What do you all think? (I'm pretty stoked!)
