What do you all think? (I'm pretty stoked!)

Hi all,
I wanted to find out what happens when you have all the work done by somebody else!
I sent this tune to a demo studio in Nashville to give it a go. I'm dipping into the country end of the pool again
for some reason, this song came at me and I couldn't ignore it.
I talked to the studio owner and asked if he had a vocalist that would fit this and he did, but recommended I sing it myself.
What do y'all think about that- I thought having an authentic country twanger would make it an easier artist pitch,
but he said not so much...

He's going to start work tomorrow- I'll post the progress, this should be highly educational!

hey Rob,

I like that you are sharing this with us (an totally want to hear the progress) but I really don't think you need to go that rout at all. You have a great voice, play guitar awesomely and nobody will have the emotion you have.

The only exception I can think of is if you wanted live instruments in there but a good live recorded drum loop and authentic sounding bass VST (if you don't have a real one) is about all you need.

What is this person gonna do for you? And for how much?

I say save your money or put the same cash into something you can use over and over.

BTW, Another great tune!

PS I was listening to "There from Here" the other night and it hit the spot for me in the mood I was in. So, thanks for writing that one.

Hey Rob - This will be fun to hear this one progressing! Nice tune man, I was expecting the chorus to go big but then the second time I knew what was coming and it seemed more natural, might be worth a try to make the chorus soar a bit more though. The other surprise was the bridge being before the second verse, have you tried going VCVCBC instead? Just a thought...

Rob, man this is really great, I can see why he recommended you sing it yourself, you sound great! The demo is really clean, well done!
I felt the same as Ethan when it came to the chorus, was expecting it to really soar.

Looking forward to hearing the finished goods.

Exceptional song Rob!

I can see why the studio want you to sing it,the vocal is kind of conversational in it’s delivery and almost understates a very powerful lyric but the overall effect to my ears makes the message even more poignant.
The only voice that I can think of that would do this justice,other than your voice,is Kenny Chesney.

Great work.

Mike: Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm really taking this to a studio just to see what the process is like- I've done so many
productions of my stuff in an insular way using only my limited skill set in the studio, though my skills are growing, I still am
curious what a pro will do with this and how it will differ from what I can do. It's going to be a "full band "production (w/live drums woo hoo!)
and all he has to go on is the demo. I don't feel bad about blowing a little $ for something that will be very educational.
(plus he's unbelievably cheap!)

Ethan and Mark: Yeah good call on the traffic, it's funny I never thought about it- this was one of those tunes that kind of
wrote itself, and it just seemed to flow with the changes in that order. I was throttling the chorus back a bit because the
bridge felt like the climax. We'll see what kind of build the studio puts in there. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks Dick- I used my trusty AT 4047 on the vox and an AT 4021 scd on the guit I've discovered that standing up
facing a dead surface (really close) gets you pretty good isolation of the two mics.

Thanks Paul! The story in this has some basis in reality; this happened to a friend of mine many years ago -his girlfriend actually
called him up in the middle of the night and had him drive 2 hours to fix her car as she was on her way to go meet up with another guy. Ouch!

Hey Rob your voice is great on this , cool baritone tone has not been heard in a long time
And the arrangement flows, yes as a proper edit you could get the first line in hook soaring
I like your chorus because you drop to lower register with the lyric title kind of " Gordon light foot "
I would send them your vocal you did here and mix it with their
