I was really hoping that my "One More Piece" was going to go through ...

As far as the screener goes ... Why say it's "so good" if you're not going to forward it!?!
Getting a little concerned that my abilities are slipping and no longer "taxi worthy."
As of this moment, my mind is in a place of doubt and considering giving up. Please tell me not to and this is all part of the "experience."

The most successful TAXI members have more returns than those who are less successful.

And, certainly more successful than those who quit.

A good friend and TAXI buddy has shared with me that he has had over 1000 returns. Today he is as busy as he can be.

It is not unusal to take two years or more to get some traction. If one is paying attention to why a track was returned and learns from the return, the next track should show improvement.

Also. peer to peer can be a place where multiple "producers" can help one "up the game".

However, I believe the biggest factor in achieving success is one's attitude. We all get returns, but how one reacts, and probably more importantly, "acts", especially in public, are huge factors in moving forward while embracing all that TAXI offers.

Over time, one develops what I refer to as an "immune system" when it comes to returns. (And, by the way, libraries also "return" music, they just call it "we are not accepting your music")

I came across this quote recently:

"it is not events, but our opinions about them, that cause us suffering".

The immune system developed over time allows for no "suffering" over a return.

I do think that mourning over a return in private is a better strategy than griping in public. (but that is just my philosophy, and it works for me)

Results come from action, not quitting. If you want results, you have to put in the work.

You either have to make the commitment to take action or take a break. There is no in-between.

If you truly want to quit, do it now. Just remember that there are no rewards for quitting.

Of course what you say is absolutely true, but it's really difficult to see the "light" after 4 years of taking advice, progressing in the right direction, and still getting "NO" emails. It's just very frustrating. The most painful time is about an hour after reading the return email, especially after how much effort your put into the project. The next day isn't as bad though, as a new listing opportunity usually presents itself.

Lately I put the whole thing into a similar perspective to playing the lottery ... Bummed when I don't win, but there's always another chance (assuming I want to keep playing).

Dude that is a very Cool Song, the recording sounded great on My head phones. It may be a bit more Jazzy than Funky to Me but I'm not an expert in either Genre.
Now as for quitting? Well I've done that a few times I always come back to what I Love (Music) then I just get pissed at Myself because I have to make up for lost time.
You've built a Nice Catalogue of tunes and if Your Music reflects Your personality I would say You are Laid Back, Mellow Sort. Maybe You just need to get out some frustration. Maybe write a Song like "Hell Bent For Leather" or "Breaking The Law".
Sooner than Later things will go Your Way.

Yeh, the more I listen to it, the more jazzy it gets. I'll tweak some things and hope that listing comes around again one day.

You're SO right!! I would hate to step out of line, only to end up at the back of the line. I'm not so upset with not getting picked as I am frustrated with how expensive this is getting. haha I will definitely consider some heavier stuff!! My guitar soloing is a little less than perfect, otherwise I'd be all over that!

It has a smooth jazz type of feel to me. I love it but maybe it's not considered funk to the screener. Just an opinion. With the talent you have don't give up.

Yea Peter Your right this is an expensive Addiction we all have. Just think though, when You do get a Pay Day, as far as I know, It's ALL TAX DEDUCTIBLE. YES YES YES

Dude, this is a lifestyle, not a hobby. In any case, how much would you spend on a boat/golf clubs/buying her dresses?

In my head it's realistic to expect a 98% rejection rate. That implies a 2% success rate, which is opportunity. And ref the above quote, I see it more as a swimming pool than a line. It's not about your turn, it's more about who helps keep you afloat.

You know you can't stop, Peter, so just keep swimming, bud.
