I submitted to U130701CV, which called for covers of "You Got It." I got a return on it and thought, "Hmm... I don't got it."

Can't find that particular track so can't comment. YouTube opening vid is great though. Also something cool I noticed: You subscribe to Chuck D'aloia channel, who's an Albany NY native and has a great series of videos if you aspire to play guitar in the style of Robben FOrd/Larry Carlton. The Blues With Brians is well worth checking out. As is your page, thanks for posting.

I didn't find this track either, but I was blown away by "O Sweet Grace" on your YouTube page ... goosebumps man. That is some fantastic work, and the video too. Your sound reminds me just a tad of Marc Cohn. The "Marc Cohn" album is one of my all-time faves, every track on it. But certainly you have your own sound & vibe.

Then while I was writing this, I looked at your other urls, and found that you're also from Indiana, so that's cool too.

Chuck, sorry, I should have clarified - I hadn't made my version of "You Got It" public. I just thought that being rejected for a song called "You Got It" was funny.

Here's the note from the return:
Thank you Scott for submitting your version of "You Got It', nice version, but it doesn't stand out until the very end and it's too late, the ad agency will want to hear what they want within the first 10 seconds.
Getting that response from the listener was both encouraging and disappointing. On one hand, there's confirmation that the song stands out. On the other hand it's kind of frustrating to know that the song has to punch right at the beginning. By that logic, a song has to start out at the top and then has no where to go. I like songs to build. Maybe that makes me ineligible for listings like this. :?

Thanks, Jim! I'm glad you liked the music video!

I am often reminded of the Mel Brooks movie Blazing Saddles when the characters are taking something off a wagon and the joke is "I got it, I got it," with a high inflection, then the thing falls and it's "I don't got it." with low inflection.
