Objective ears please?

I got a return on the below track for the post rock listing due to "distortion"
and I have listened multiple times, checked my recording, I just cannot hear any. I know there is this audio blindness that can happen, but
can anyone give me their objective observation. Apparently it's at "the top of the track".

If I am this absolutely deaf, I need to know so I can go get my hearing attended to.

Title: Dreamland (post rock)
on my taxi page. and also on soundcloud here https://soundcloud.com/gypsygirl/dreamland-post-rock

thanks for your time.

Hi Gypsy,

listened a few times, monitors and headphones. Not sure I hear any distortion either. Maybe group discount on hearing tests are in order. Curious to see what others hear. Loved the track btw.

I don't hear much, perhaps the bass drum downbeat at 1:37 or so... but that's if I streeeeetch a bit. I don't hear any distortion really

Perhaps the screeners headphones are on their way out? The bass frequency came through strong on my Sony 7506 headphones.

Listen ended on my iphone (don't laugh) and I'm guessing it's probably the very start of the track. It needs a fade or longer fade in.

fwiw: I listened to the SC version - first through Logitech add-on computer speakers,
then through Sony 7506 Procans; and here's what my ears noted:
on the speakers:
the beginning seems a bit abrupt... and what could be construed as distortion
may have been what sounds like a bit of a clash between the tremolo effects and competing space for the instruments.
on the cans:
the sub bass is more prominent, which gives it more of an EDM vibe on the bottom end;
and that's a good, solid thing.

As a drummer, I notice that the choice of snare drums has particularly "loose" snare wires sound;
which could easily contribute to the ears thinking they're distorted. Whereas, if it were mine:
for a "rock" sound: I might have chosen a more woody-tone snare drum, with the wires tighter, and a little less sloppy sounding.
Also... if those are programmed real drum/cymbal sounds... the crash sounds exactly like my
Paiste 2002 red label 18" crash... which is a favorite, btw; apparently lots of samples use it.

I don't know if any of that is helpful; just reporting what these old ears are picking up.
Cheers.

Listened on headphones where the abrupt beginning didn't sound so much like the culprit. [Apparently that kind of start can cause digital overs] Maybe they mean delayed guitar in the first few seconds, it might be a bit 'fizzy'.

Hi Gypsy, yes it is very depressing what can Earn a Return  .

So the only thing I can hear is on the Very first note and between 4-5 and 7-8 seconds
there is a sound (as Peter mentioned) that sounds like loose snares (snares on)
on a snare drum. I doubt that is what it is unless you recorded Live with a drummer.
And I had to turn it up (to about 50-60%) to hear it.
I also agree with Peter about the snare sound (as great as it is, almost perfect IMO) seems
a bit "Marching Band" and really sticks out (In Jr High Band we had a Ludwig Chrome SD that sounded just like it).
But it's not distorted :D.

I don't hear anything. and definitely nothing that would warrant a return. Sounds great to me.

Ok thankyou all very much for taking the time to really listen. I guess I should listen through different quality headphones
and ipads and iphones and stuff just to be sure in the future.
Makes me wonder why I spent so much on pristine studio speakers.

The distorttion was noted "at the start/top of the track which makes it unusable"

geezuss well I shall just have to try harder.

:)
