Screeners mini reviews are great but...

Hi all, love the fact that the reviewers add some info to the yes/no returns stating why they are rejected! Just starting here and learning lots but seems I just can't get a handle on the specifics of the requirements....

What would REALLY help I think would be if when the song(s) are "off target" to know WHICH target they WOULD be acceptable for?

I did hear one song that sounded EXACTLY like the sample only different lyrics of course and with the melody turned wrong-side-out or something. Maybe instead of saying not to copy the reference material, they should ask us to come as close as we can without plagiarizing the original?

Thanks for the read!

without learning to read between the lines, gaining more knowledge of what specific genres consist of, and what is broadcast quality...all of which are something I feel you do develop over time, the other thing to do is utilize the TAXI custom critiques. That can shed light on what seems to be a very dark and indistinct process.

You can ask questions like:

"What genre is this? It was returned as not being "indie-folk""?

etc.

HTH, Thanks for that. Didn't know the custom critiques offered a back and forth with the reviewer. Neat! :)

ah that not actually how it is. More like you can ask a list of questions when you submit the critique and they usually address all your points. Sorry to be unclear.
