submission wait time

Hello, all. I recently re-joined Taxi. Made a submission today to a yes/no listing. The faq says to expect a reply in 10 to 30 days. Is that still the case, or has it changed with the possibility of online uploads? (during my first time with Taxi, old-fashioned burritos in the mail was the only submission option)

It's pretty accurate - I've had some get back to me in a handful of days and one of them took about 30.

There doesn't seem to be a discernible pattern, all projects have different time lines and they probably just do the screening when it's actually required to be forwarded on.

All the best with post-post Taxi!

I personally and usually expect a 30 days reply, but I was gladly surprised for the last submission: I got a 'congratulations edmond' email a week after submission. So I'd say, it is still the same old expectation.

Yep... give yourself at month. I submit quite often and usually its about 4-5 weeks to hear back. Occasionally one comes back in 2-3 weeks but that is rare for me.

In my experience, it depends on the genre. Some genres, like Tension Cues, get TONS of submissions! Other more specific genres, don't get a lot!

I would imagine, it's simply supply and demand!

I would rather wait 45 days to get a forward than to get a return in a week:) lol!!!

The Taxi member mantra is "Write, submit, forget, repeat." I'm finding out that I'm only good at three out of the four! ;) "Forgetting" while you're waiting for someone to judge your work is proving difficult. I think maybe it's because I haven't had any Forwards yet. Once I breach that barrier (and receive that validation), I think I'll be better at chilling out during the long waiting game that is music licensing. Trying to get that first Forward I feel like Gollum from "Lord of the Rings"... "We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious!"

The Taxi Burrito! I remember seeing info on that in my very first introductory packet from Taxi like 10 years ago. And recently, I've seen reference to it in other material (I recently renewed my membership for 2 more years, and think it might still be mentioned in some of the literature). I wonder if anyone still submits hard-copies "burrito-style" anymore? I also see the listings still mentioning "send 3 songs online or per CD". Do people still send in CD's?

Just idle thoughts, haha.

HA!! Well, Cass, I suppose 2-inch tape is still better than just going to Michael's office in person and singing your songs to him in lieu of a submission!
