Road Rally submissions? Anybody get a forward?

I have to say I'm a little disappointed in my return. I submitted a piece that I have been 3 for 3 on in ACTUAL submissions to listings, but got a return on this generic listing. Seems pretty odd. Also, one of the screener's 2 problems with my piece was that they had a hard time finding the meter...which is basically a staple of the "chase scene" genre. A little research would have let the screener know that not letting the listener lock into a meter is a huge part of creating the uneasiness of the chase/action scene.

I'm guessing I won't waste my money submitting to the RR panels next year. Did anyone else have better luck with their submission? Peace.

Of 3 submitted:
One still Pending (was played for one panel)
One Returned (was played for one panel) "...more of a Theme song rather than being for an underscore..."
This one forwarded: "I'll Be There With You" https://soundcloud.com/robert-cass-mcen ... 04-08-2015 (not played at the Rally)

I had a forward for the music sup panel and the other one is still pending. :D

The song was subsequently signed to an exclusive library but it's all good! If I hear from a sup, I'll just refer them to the library owner.

Good luck to all!
:D Casey

Post-edit: The same song also got forwarded for the other panel that accepted vocal songs. :D

Hi James, old friend! :D
Is that generally known about the chase scene genre? I honestly don't know, not my area. If that is fairly common knowledge and you feel strongly about the return, you could drop an email to headscreener at taxi dot com. At the minimum, you'll get some clarification.

I will say that with any submission, things vary according to the specific listing and screener. I have songs that got a string of consecutive forwards and then a return with some new negative comments. It's very listing dependent and yes, screeners are human and will have different opinions. (You probably know all that having been here a long time).

Best,
:D Casey

I got a forward for the instrumental RR listing with this track:

https://soundcloud.com/markhimley/midnight-love

I was really hoping it would have gotten played at that panel; really wanted to hear the advice/feedback of the panelists. It was however played at the last panel, the happy ending pitch panel. They all seemed to like it quite a bit, and actually recommended I turn it into a vocal song, which I did instantly with the one and only Marcus Cohen aka CaiNo. Ended up pretty much signing both versions on the spot after the panel.

Dude I knew we were gonna smash that song the minute it played at that panel. I leaned in and told our publisher we were doing it for him and man we nailed it! Thanks again dude!

I also got my panel song (called On A Day Like Today) forwarded via the listing. Just found out today. :)

My man thank YOU! You took that song to a whole new level. Super proud of that one for sure, had a blast doing it.

I submitted to all the Road Rally panels but the random number generator was NOT kind to me. However, after a long work week I received a late Friday email that one of my tunes had been forwarded. A pleasant surprise to end the week!

The forwarded piece was a fully orchestrated classical piece I wrote a year or so ago. I'm not a classically trained musician but wanted to give it a try...

Fingers crossed.....
