Here's the listing:TWANGY TEXAS-ROCK SONGS and INSTRUMENTALS a la Old 97’s, are needed immediately by the Producer of a TV series that chronicles paranormal mysteries on a well-known, real-life Drama Cable station. Uptempos are preferred but all tempos are welcome. Instrumentals are mainly what he wants to hear, but he will accept songs if there’s prolonged instrumental sections. Songs and instrumentals must be Broadcast Quality (excellent home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three songs or instrumentals online or per CD (include lyrics if applicable). All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than 2:00pm (PST) on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. TAXI #D090728TVHere's the song:Sweet Texas Twang -

http://www.taxi.com/bigbluebarryIt was returned due to the instrumental performance being listed as not Broadcast Quality. I was more concerned that stylistically, it wasn't "rock" enough, but I thought the performance was ok. Maybe my ears deceived me. If they did, someone feel free to give it to me straight so I can fix it. Thanks,- Big Blue

Hey Big Blue! I think the guitar playing needs to swing more and be a bit more fluid, it sounds a little stiff to me. I don't know if this is what the screener was hearing but wanted to offer my take. I wish Taxi would do away with that generic broadcast quality term unless they offered at least a sentence to clarify.

Yep, have to agree with Bill, it just sounds kinda stiff. No offense meant at all, but right now it sounds like you're imitating that swingin', chicken pickin style rather than just naturally playing it. You'll get it though I'm sure! It's definitely not the easiest playing to pull off if you don't do it all the time. There's a fill at :27 that fills a bit awkward, too. You're definitely close though!HTH,Dan

Thanks Bill and Dan... No offense taken at all This is definitely NOT my normal genre. I started out trying to write something for the spooky slide listing, but somehow managed to end up writing this instead for the other listing. It's not a style that I listen to that often, and I would say that this is probably my first real attempt at writing a song in that style. So next time I'll know, to put more swing in to it! Thanks fellas!- Big Blue

I Think it was good for the listing especialy since the listing mentioned the Old 97's. I think this track nailed their sound IMO. I actually got the F on this one "Western Swing" was the tune. I also had 2 on the spooky slide one 'Desolation" and "Let The Bloodletting Begin". Anyway, I like the track it was really cool!- Mark
