Here's the listing:ALT ROCK/INDIE POP SONGS that specifically sound like Vampire Weekend are wanted by an established Independent Music Publisher who has an ongoing need for songs that sound very similar to the referenced artist. You don't need to try to create a soundalike to any specific song, but the approach and tone should be right in line with Vampire Weekend's material and sound. If you submitted to D081124AR, please submit different material for this one - this Publisher had an urgent need and also has a long term need for this type of music. Overall, great performances and solid songs will make the difference for this one. It is important that these songs be Broadcast Quality, though great home recordings should be just fine. The President of the company will be screening these submissions himself, so be sure to send in your very best material! For this one, he'll split the license fee with you 50/50 and he doesn't take any publishing. Please submit one to three tracks online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than January 14, 2009. TAXI #Y090114ARHere's the link to the song:Oh Don't Say No - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=trueIt was returned, and I was a little confused by the mini-critique given. In the section for "Reasons Not Forwarded/Broadcast Quality" there was a check in the box that said "Instrumental Performance" (but not "Vocal Performance) but then in the additional notes, the critique said:"Arrangement percolates and drives the rhythm nicely. The vocals never quite stretch out to bring in the same textures for the Indie Rock request."I would have been more disappointed about this but since the President of the company himself did the screenings, there's nothing more we could have done. He just didn't like the song. Oh well... gotta move forward... write.submit.repeat. - Big Blue

Hey Blue, this is a cool song & I'll bet if you submitted to some places on your own you could get it signed easily!

Thanks Bill, we're definitely gonna pursue some other options with it. We're gonna probably add a bridge to it as well. - Big Blue

Hey Blue I almost submitted to this listing but felt like I couldn't quite capture the vibe in a catchy song. Man you really got the musical vibe here... there is something subtle I can't quite put my finger on with the vocal. It's almost like it sounds too GOOD ha ha.. or too clean. Needs some kind of strain or rawness in it to capture the indie spirit. Just my IMHO bud But nice work! BTW, who is that singing????

Thanks Patrick... I think you may be spot on about the vocals... The vocalist is my best friend Joel. He's also on the tracks "Everybody", "Hey Hey", "Our Place", "Hidden Beauty", and "There's A Girl" on my profile page. He and I co-write together pretty much every week. - Big Blue

Actually, I've been blessed to co-write with 2 people that can sing, and both of them are in different styles. Audiorayne and I have been keeping busy working on some tracks too. We just finished one, we're almost finished tweaking our first one, and we're nearly done with yet another one. Being able to write with those guys has definitely been a wonderful thing for me. - Big Blue

Really nice tune. The voice has shades of sir Paul Mc, with a little twist that I can't quite nail down. Very cool at any rate. I think a bridge on this would be really cool. Nice work.
