I BOMBED ON THIS ONE!! DANG!

I thought for sure I had the right piece for this. REALITY CHECK!! Isn't this guitar-based rock? I was thinkin' that Joe Satriani album with the Silver Surfer on it, somebody help me out here, can't remember the name of that album or the song that sounds similar. Oh well, ya' can't win 'em all. I'll keep at it! EXTREME SPORTS INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a great Production Music Library/Publisher that has signed tons of TAXI members over the years, and has made money for many of them. Think X Games, motocross, skateboarding, BMX, etc. Guitar-based Rock, Power Pop and Punk are typically good bets for this type of opportunity – Joe Satriani, Avril Lavigne and Blink 182. Tracks should ideally run between :60 and 3 minutes in length. Rock Da' House 3I-468PS -- I swear this gets weirder as time goes on. My tune "Conquest" gets forwarded (I wasn't bankin' on that one so much, but happy with the results) for the Olympic thingy, and I just knew this one would "hit the mark" and it didn't. Huummph! Dave Walton said there'd be days like this!

I think I mentioned in a previous thread that this was immediately reminiscent of Mahavishnu... which is COOL. But I don't think the extreme sports folks even know who Mahavishnu is. I think it needed to be a lot more "punk" and "alt" rock... really edgy distorted fast paced stuff. SIMPLE stuff. You got a return like I got one time. "Your music is sophisticated... unfortunately they needed something a lot looser and edgier". HTH,Dave

Thanks D Dub! I getcha'! I remember you sayin' that, but Mahavishnu never came to mind when I put this together. I honestly can't say anybody came ta' mind when puttin' this together. It was just born out of....nuthin'. Maybe next time I should put something together like that masterpiece of yours..what's it called...."Circular Breathing" is it? That bad boy gets rave reviews no matter where it's submitted. Thanks Dave, 'preciate the words of wisdom.I-468

They don't come often but I've seen "jazz fusion" listings... this would fly through one of those.

I468,In the large scheme of things, this return doesn't mean a thing.I think that an evolutionary part of this process is becoming immune to the returns.Still celebrate the forwards. They tend to keep us going.I've mentioned this before, but I now view forwards as "favorable introductions." Once you've been introduced to a library and signed even one track, you have an open door.In my opinion, if it takes ten or fifteen returns to get one "favorable introduction", so what.If I wanted to meet George Benson and it took thirty or more attempts to get a "favorable introduction" am I going to feel bad about the thirty attempts or be excited that I met George Benson.Keep writing and submitting. Your work continues to get better and better and that's a good thing.Hope to meet you at the Rally.Chuck

Yeah Chuck, I hear ya'. I'm moanin' and groanin', but actually I'm OK with it. I still have yet to sign a track, but that's the goal I have in mind. I won't quit until I accomplish that. I've told the wife I'm headin' out ta' Cali in Nov. So she knows. Now all I hafta' do is stop procrastinating and get myself together and register and make reservations and all of that kinda' stuff. I'll get to it shortly. I plan on being there, one way or another.I-468

I-468,This is a numbers game. More tracks mean more submissions. More submissions, more forwards. (and returns) More forwards (favorable introductions) lead to deals.More deals lead to more deals. (without TAXI returns and forwards)One of the libraries I'm in is excited about the tracks I've signed, which gets me excited.I want to partner with those kind of folks. Then the perspective is that I only want them to sign the tracks they can "sell" That's a win win situation. You are very close to a deal. Just keep writing and submitting. And BTW get your reservations for the Rally lined up.The Rally will be a very valuable experience at this point in your journey.Chuck
