Casey,I can't get that player to let me hear more than 10 seconds of anything. Physical World starts out punchy, but never got any lyric.

Casey-This are all well-done songs. I like 'I Had Lunch with Your Wife Today" best; it seems to have the most unique character, while staying close enough to pop sensibilities to be appealing to a wide audience. The "She cries, she cries" lines seem a little lite in the context of the anguish of the song, but it still has a great emotional tone.Frankly Scarlet is cool, too...but I wanted to hear it get much bigger, fuller, and edgier in the choruses, ala Nickelback or Creed.Physical World is catchy from a musical standpoint, but I can't get over the fact that you're singing about picking up a chick in a Gym...especially with such a serious tone! I would use these lyrics in a more "fun" sounding song, and use this music with some more serious lyrics.Great job on these.Andre

Personally I enjoyed the music/lyric combination in Physical World, except that the lead guitar didn't seem to fit--it kinda came out of another song to my ears. Nice use of the bridges too BTW.I liked Frankly Scarlet, and I think I would like it even better if it weren't a guitar-heavy arrangement. The ensemble works fine in the chorus, but on the verses I wanted to hear keyboard. There are a couple of lines that seemed weaker (rhyming "right" with "right" for instance) but the variation in the choruses is very nice. Good work there. Ultimately, to answer the question you actually asked, I think I agree with Andre that the lunch song is the strongest. Partly just because the lyric has soemthing to say, the song tells an implied story and the music seems to fit it.

Thanks for all the ears folks... I agree with all the feedback. Of course, which song I like best varies from day to day. I often think my bridges are my best parts- something that can be a blessing and a curse... On one hand the bridges can be my best hooks, on the other hand not getting to the hookiest part sooner is limiting. When I'm listening I can't get enough of the bridge in Physical World.I also envision Frankly Scarlet being sung by someone with more of a Nickelback voice and if I ever find the right person I would probably have the vocal re-sung.Funny thing is I always had "Lunch" down on my list of favorites. That's because I was convinced that the lyric didn't tell enough of a story. Side note: I got the idea for a song with that type of title- "I Had Lunch With Your Wife Today" (a regular sentence) from Joni Mitchell's "The Last Time I Saw Richard"...I hope I am not rambling and talking way too much about my songs here... BUT (I will anyway ) ... Physical World is based on a true story. There is a very attractive black women, tall and "statuesque", as the song says, who goes to my gym. She would be on the treadmill sweating and I found the sweat on her dark skin incredibly sexy. We did become friends as many of us do at the gym, chatting etc (BTW I am a very faithful married man). One time she was hanging around with a bunch of muscular black men, I went over to talk to her and felt very out of place- like I didn't fit being white...So I started writing the song about us being in different worlds due to our races. But no matter what I wrote, I worried that the words could be misinterpreted regarding racial issues. So I changed it to be more about her physical beauty when compared to my average looks making her out of reach-- we were stuck in a "physical world"... (I'll save this story in case VH1 Storytellers ever comes back)...Thanks again for listening and reading! Please feel free to ask me to give some listens and comments for you too... Casey

Hi Casey,My vote is for "I Had Lunch With Your Wife". Nothing academic about my choice, just my personal preference. BTW, did I notice a patch from Reason at the beginning of Frankly Scarlet? Good work on all those. You've got a cool voice. Wish I could sing. Dave
